More Rolled Arm Sofa Goodness

emmas2

The last thing I need is another sofa but every time I see an English rolled arm sofa, I stop in my tracks. (Like on the cover of the book from yesterday’s post.)  I first posted about these lovelies here and here are some more from my collection.

I’m sure you’ve all seen Sofia’s place:

and yes, here’s Jenna Lyons’ living room again. But it’s from a different angle!

Good, right? By the way, did anyone see her on Oprah a while back? I don’t know what I was expecting exactly and she was cool but she was different from what I expected. What about you?

More Black Couches, AT Debut, And Where I Blog From

More examples of how fabulous black couches can be.

I have no idea why I have couches on the brain lately. I just do.

I have a couple of other things to share with you today. First, today is my debut at Apartment Therapy!  My first post will be up later this morning – so that’s afternoon, evening or early tomorrow for most of you – and you can look for me there regularly Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Second, I am sharing my messy desk as part of Ill Seen, Ill Said‘s wonderful series called “Where We Blog From.” Hope to see you at either or both places today. Thanks!

The Perfect Sofa?

I would like to continue the discussion of this room from yesterday’s post.

Aside from the fab chandelier, I’m completely in love with this sofa.

It looks like this sofa from George Smith:

George Sherlock also makes a similar one:

There is also the Lee Industries version which Lauren at Pure Style Home actually found on Craiglist! She then had it upholstered in the most beautiful shade of green:

Isn’t it just the most gorgeous couch ever? (By the way, Lauren’s been decorating her new house and doing the most amazing job. If you haven’t seen it yet, you really must.)

I don’t need a sofa at the moment since ours is only a couple of years old. But someday I will and this one could work in a variety of different style of rooms:

and looky here, another occasion to post Jenna Lyons’ living room:

Will I ever tire of her house? At this point, I’m thinking no.

Do you have a favorite couch style?

Abigail Ahern

I think most of you know how fabulous stylist and designer Abigail Ahern is. On the off chance you don’t, NKP at Head Over Heels had a great post on her work a couple of months ago. And more recently, so did Jenny at My Favorite and My Best.

Of all the spaces she’s designed for herself and others, the one that is just killing me is this:

This is her own living room and I love it so much it hurts. The chandelier is bananas and since my own Murano chandelier has bitten the dust, I actually have an excuse to get another one. Has anyone seen this in the flesh? What do you think? Aside from the chandelier, I love, love, love this couch. And don’t even get me going about the gray walls. I guess what I’m saying is I basically want to move into her house.

I’m going to continue the discussion of this room (and the couch in particular) tomorrow after I’ve stopped spazzing out. Join me again tomorrow, won’t you?

Black Couches

shh

Deviating from our usual ode to white around here, I’d like to show you some photos of gorgeous black couches I’ve been collecting. I never thought of buying a black couch before because I always thought of them as big, leather things for man caves but these have got me reconsidering.

This one is probably my favorite:

Do any of you have black couches? If you do, what pieces do you have with it? If not, would you ever consider it?

A Chesterfield

Now the last thing I need is another couch. We got the gray one when we moved into our house and a second couch is sitting in my studio, waiting to go to our weekend house (whenever that may be). There is also a settee on the landing upstairs. So really, another couch is out of the question. But, I’ve been drawn to the chesterfield for a while now and want to keep it on file for future reference. I love how English and clubby it feels.

But it’s can also be quite modern in white leather:

Recently, I found this gorgeous, distressed leather version at Shabby Chic:

We got our couch before we got our dogs but had it been the other way around, I would have definitely gone with something leather. So I think this will be my next couch. It may be a while but there’s nothing wrong with a long term plan, right?
