Today’s Crush: Christian Lacroix Forum Throw Pillow

It seems I can only go a few months without mentioning Christian Lacroix. I really do love everything he does. Most recently, I came across his Forum Throw Pillow (referring to the Forum in Arles, France) and now I can’t stop thinking about it. (Heather: this post is for you!)

I think I love the striped reverse as much as the front:

It’s available from Designers Guild.

P.S. I included this pillow in a roundup of “Finds for the Travel Addict” for Houzz. They have asked me to share some of my favorite finds so I’ll be doing that monthly over there if you’d like to check it out.

Union Jack Fixation

I have always had an affinity for the Union Jack motif. Yes, it’s trendy but what can I say? I’ve always liked it and am pretty sure I always will. I actually wrote this post last week but thought it might seem really unpatriotic to post it right before Independence Day(!)

I’ve talked endlessly about the Vivienne Westwood rug for the Rug Company:

Words can’t express how much I love this but the truth is, I would have a hard time making it work anywhere in my house.

But I still want some form of Union Jack and have been looking for just the right thing.

I thought I had found it in these tea towels:

And I think I’ll still get one (aren’t they cute?) but a couple of weeks ago, I found this tapestry pillow on Etsy . . .

and I knew that it was exactly what I wanted. It arrived last week and I’m in love with it. Ah, the joy a pillow can bring.

So how was your holiday weekend? Mine was great – it was so nice to be home for a change! We moved some furniture around (no, really?), cleaned out a bunch of junk and started hanging some art. This place may actually be habitable soon(!)

Pillowpalooza + Moving Update

I recently brought home another pillow. (Who buys more pillows when they’re about to move???) Anyway, behold my latest acquisition:

How can anyone resist rosettes? (The pillow is actually a lighter, cream color and the rosettes are closer together in real life. Swoon.)

While I am at it, I’d like to show you some pillows that I have been coveting for such a long time that I can’t believe they’re not already in my house.

and finally, the Paris pillow from catstudio.

Being a big traveler, I have an affinity for old school souvenirs and this is inspired by the souvenir pillows of the 1930′s so I’m finding it hard to resist. Plus I keep seeing it everywhere. I even saw it in Paris this spring.

But really, I should be focusing on something a little more important right now such as . . .

THE BIG MOVE

I am currently in the midst of organizing the household for the move, selling our current house, planning the cross country road trip, trying to fit in time with friends, and oh, about a hundred other things. Frazzled would be a good description of my current state.

So starting tomorrow, some very good blogger friends will be stepping in for me here over the next month (bless ‘em!) with me popping in now and then to say hello. You are in for a treat because these are some of the funniest, sweetest and most stylin’ peeps I know and whom I’m sure you already know and love.

So TTFN and thank you so much for all of the well wishes you’ve sent my way lately. I’ll be talking to you soon! xo, Ally

New John Robshaw Pillow

DSC_1195

Please say hello to my new John Robshaw Handpainted Fort Pillow. I don’t know if you’re like me but when I buy three pillows in one week, I feel the need to justify the purchase so here goes.

First, I love John Robshaw.

Second, I love drawings.

Third, I love anything handpainted.

Fourth, this fort reminds me of the forts we visited last year in India:

And fifth, it was like half the original price through One Kings Lane.

I think I’m pretty good at this justifying thing because I don’t feel guilty at all! I guess that’s what happens when you get plenty of practice(!) Have you bought anything interesting lately?

[Update: I think my site should be up and running normally now. But if you're still having problems with it being slow, please let me know. Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience!]
