Orange Crush: Hermès

dressdesign

Welcome to this month’s installment of Orange Crush, a collaboration between Down and Out Chic and FTRB where we celebrate our favorite color, orange!

luxist

I honestly don’t know how I’ve done all these Orange Crush posts without doing one on Hermès! I think just the sight of those orange boxes makes most of us happy.

But when they contain things like this cashmere blanket, it’s even better!

And what about the vintage tray:

Unfortunately, it’s virtually impossible to get your hands on one.

And speaking of rare items:

leica

I am positively DYING over this Leica M7, Edition Hermes. It is a limited edition collector’s item and as a sometimes-photographer and huge Leica fan, I’d be all over this . . .  except for one wee little fact. It runs around $14,000. Ouch, right? So while I go off to sulk, please head over to Down and Out Chic for the other half of today’s Orange Crush post on orange flowers.

Orange Crush: Orange & Turquoise

Welcome to another installment of Orange Crush, a collaboration with Down and Out Chic that celebrates our favorite color. As I’m sure most of you know, this is the year of turquoise and when it’s paired with orange, I think it’s a great summer color combination.

Orange Crush: Orange Jieldé Lamps

ms

Welcome to this month’s edition of Orange Crush brought to you by From the Right Bank and Down and Out Chic. Today, I thought I’d combine my love of orange with my love of Jieldé Lamps. I love these classic lights for their amazing quality and industrial good looks.

They come in an array of great colors but I especially love them in orange!

I think this one might actually be red but let’s just go with it:

Orange Crush: Orange and Gray

thephoenix

Orange Crush is back! If you’re new to my blog, Orange Crush is a monthly collaboration with my pal Christina at Down and Out Chic where we share with you our love of the color orange. We took a little break while I was busy with my move (thanks for your patience, Christina!) but we’re back and look forward to a very orange year.

So you know I’ve been on a gray kick for quite a while now. Well, it happens to look amazing with orange as you can see in these rooms:

I’m sure this comes as no surprise to those of you familiar with the living room in my last house:

Christina is featuring orange wedding ideas at her blog today and it’s only appropriate since she’s recently engaged! Be sure to pay her a visit and congratulate her!

Orange Crush: Orange & Purple

dti8

Welcome to Orange Crush, a monthly collaborative series presented by Down and Out Chic and From the Right Bank to the Left Coast. With this installment, I’d like to begin exploring color combinations with orange, starting with one of my favorites, orange and purple.

This room is the perfect example of how rich and luxurious this combination can be:

In a lighter shade, purple and orange are a lovely pairing in a more traditional room:

At the other end of the spectrum, the combination can really pop:

This combination is definitely not for the color phobe. But if you’re feeling bold, there are endless possibilities.

For the other half of Orange Crush, Christina has orange treats for under $10 at Down and Out Chic today. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it? Don’t miss it!

[For those of you following my new home search, we're currently in a negotiating phase! It's a nail biter, I tell ya! I'll keep you posted.]

Orange Crush: Beds

coco

Welcome to the third installment of Orange Crush, a monthly collaboration between Down and Out Chic and From the Right Bank to the Left Coast.

Today for your viewing pleasure, I have orange beds. Orange is not what I’d call a go-to color for a bed but here are some good examples of why it certainly could be.

See? I especially love the last room. It’s just so fresh. And at Down and Out Chic today, Christina is featuring orange photography. How cool is that? So if you haven’t been there already, be sure to hop on over and have a look.

We’ll both be back next month with another installment. In the meantime, if you have any requests or suggestions, do let us know!

Orange Crush: Walls

NYT2

Welcome to the second installment of Orange Crush, a collaboration between From the Right Bank to the Left Coast and Down and Out Chic where we show you the fabulousness that is orange. (If you missed the first installment, you can find it here.)

This week, I’d like to show you some orange walls. Now, as much as I love it, even I wouldn’t paint an entire room orange. But one wall can make a real statement and it’s more versatile than you would think. It works well in a contemporary setting as you’d expect:

cotemaison3

but it also looks great on this clapboard too:

avantegarde

It also makes a great backdrop for art collections:

dti5

Look how it makes these botanical pieces pop:

msliving3

But I think my favorite use of it is on an architectural feature like columns

or chimney breasts

against white walls. Would you ever paint a wall orange?

For her part in Orange Crush, Christina is featuring orange etsy finds today at Down and Out Chic so hop on over and see what you think. And speaking of etsy, I’m totally excited that she has opened her own etsy shop. Christina is incredibly creative and has designed some of the cutest vintage-inspired costume jewelry like these:

And her prices are completely affordable in true Down and Out Chic style. So if you haven’t been by her shop yet, be sure to stop by.

We’ll both be back next month with more orange love. In the meantime, if you have suggestions or ideas for this series, please let us know!

Introducing Orange Crush!

domino

One of the first bloggers I “met” when I began blogging was Christina, whom I’m sure you all know from her fabulous blog Down and Out Chic. We started blogging around the same time and it was clear from the start that we had a lot of things in common.

One thing we share is a love of all things orange. When we discovered this, we decided we had to spread the love. It’s one of those colors that I think you either love or hate and we’re determined to make converts out of those in the latter camp(!) So once a month, we’ll be bringing you “Orange Crush” – lots of orangey goodness in the form of interiors, fashion, accessories and more.

DSC_0928

To start things off, I want to show you some of my favorite orange seating starting with one in my own house. I made a huge commitment to orange when I bought my Ligne Roset “Pop” chair by Christian Werner several years ago. We had just moved to Paris and we were shopping for things for our new apartment when I spotted the Pop chair. It was a red model and I fell instantly in love. I waited a few months to make sure that this was true love (and not a fleeting one like so many of my loves) and then I took the plunge and ordered it in orange. The chair has since moved with us to Seattle and I’m happy to say I still love it to this day.

And what about all of these great orange seats:

What do you think? Have I won anyone over yet? If not, I’ll try again next month! Be sure to go and visit Christina today where she’ll show some stylish ways to inject orange into your wardrobe. We hope you enjoy our little collaboration!
