Homes I Love: Black & White Simplicity

This house. Oh, this house. It makes me love my favorite color combination more than ever. I talk a good game about black and white but I just can’t stick to it without throwing in some other color. But these homeowners? They’re committed. And I’m so impressed.

It’s just so tranquil and all the little Moroccan accessories keep it from being too sterile. The black and white makes the perfect backdrop for just about anything so you could put any other color in there and it would work. But I’d leave well enough alone!

Favorite Color Combination: Black & White

I’ve been playing around with different color palettes for our living room, which up until now has been very neutral. There are very few colors I don’t like but my favorite color combination (if I had to choose just one) will always be black and white.

Whenever I see spaces like these, I think I could be happy living without any other colors in my life. But we all know that’s not true now don’t we?

Black And White Bedrooms

Back to Black and White

Thank you all so much for the sweet comments on Friday. It was a tough weekend and your thoughts and comments really meant a lot to me so thank you.  Everything is going to be okay so let’s get back to decorating!

As soon as we bought our new house, I made up my mind that the color scheme was going to be black, white and gray. But I got totally distracted from this plan when my parents’ things arrived because it’s all greens, browns and creams.

I was starting to go all over the place when I saw this home in Chicago Homes Magazine. This is very close to what I had envisioned originally.

Coincidentally, my parents sent down a set of white iron garden chairs that look kind of like this:

I wouldn’t have thought to use them in the house but I’m loving how this one looks here.

As a matter of fact, I love every single piece of furniture, light fixture and accessory in this house. It’s just what I needed to put me back on track with my original plan.

It’s Black And White

It seems like I fall in love with a new favorite color combination every week and having no loyalty whatsoever, I’ll quickly abandon it when a new and prettier one catches my eye. But the one I will always stay true to is black and white.

More Black & White Stripes

Somehow black and white seems to have become the theme this week. So, what’s better than black and white stripes? How about black & white stripes on my favorite furniture? Here my beloved tulip chairs are made even more fantastic – if that’s even possible – with black and white stripes.

And I have been crazy mad for this daybed for a while and I can’t express in words how much I love it:

This photo has been posted a lot around the blogosphere lately and I’m in love with it, too.  We have the same white bed and this photo makes me want to bring some black into the room. I always thought black was too harsh but I’m loving a lot of black and white rooms right now:

Because our house is contemporary, I’ve resisted the urge to hang drapes and left the windows and doors clean with just white shades. But in the bedroom, it may be just the thing to warm it up a bit.
