Obsessed with Ikat Dots

www.fromtherightbank.com

Ikat is and has been huge for years now (duh) but what I’m obsessed with is ikat dots. I just can’t get enough. I found the most beautiful velvet ikat dot pillows from this Etsy seller and I’m not exaggerating when I say I want every single one of them. For the record, I’m not being paid for this post – they just have the most beautiful patterns and colors and most are only $69.95 (so much cheaper than elsewhere!) so I wanted to share.

Now don’t go buying them all before I get a chance!

Art Wall, Part 25 (In My Dream Paris Apartment)

www.fromtherightbank.com

What I like best about this art wall is that it fills out the entire wall, working around the radiator, fireplace and door. (I would even add something behind the chair.) And while we’re here, look at those oh-so-French herringbone floors and windows. That’s because this apartment is in this 17th century building in Paris:

Pretty much my dream apartment. Yup. Someday. You can see a few other rooms in this apartment here.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. See you Monday.

Edesigning + Tastemaker

www.fromtherightbank.com

I was talking to some friends about how much I’ve been enjoying my edesign projects lately and just then, I was serendipitously invited to join the freshly launched Tastemaker, a brilliant new site that matches up homeowners with decorators for edesign services. So now, in addition to clients who come to me directly, I’ll have the opportunity to work with a whole new group of homeowners and that’s really exciting.

The way it works is simple. Based on an online quiz, homeowners are matched up with three decorators that match their style and budget. The three decorators submit a vision for the space along with a fixed quote. The homeowner chooses the decorator they like best who then creates a custom design for the space. The final design is delivered in a beautiful Design Box with floor plans, moodboards and detailed product information to finish the room. Tastemaker can even finalize purchases for the homeowner if they wish.

It’s an exciting and innovative new concept and I’m thrilled to be a part of the team. If you’d like to learn more, please visit the Tastmaker site. And if you’d like to work with me directly, please visit my updated Decorating Services page.

Room Love: Cathedral-Like Library

www.fromtherightbank.com

An historic building re-imagined as a sleek, modern hotel gets me every time but especially when a tome-filled library is its centerpiece. This is the library/lounge of the new B2 Boutique Hotel in Zurich housed in a former brewery and it holds over 30,000 books!  My jaw dropped when I saw the extra high ceiling, arched windows and those light fixtures.

The belted chairs and tables are kind of cooky and funky, don’t you think?

I like what’s going on with the walls too. Overall I think the design is really original and does a great job of highlighting the architectural features of the building.

…..where there was a Martha Stewart sighting(!) There was also some late night dancing with my GBF, shirtless boys serving cosmo shots and other shenanigans that always ensue when I’m with him but there are no Instagrams of those! (Gotta keep it classy around here! Ha!)

April ended up being a month of connecting and re-connecting with a lot of friends which has me feeling really energized. Sometimes, between blogging and edesigning, I can go days without seeing anyone (other than my husband) and forget how great a good face-to-face talk can be.  It’s hard because we’re all slammed with obligations but I believe you can and should make time for the people in your life. It doesn’t have to be some big elaborate production; a spontaneous get-together is easy and totally do-able no matter how busy we are. As a case in point, an old friend in New York who I hadn’t spoken to in years just happened to email me the day before my trip so we squeezed in a meet up last minute – we just made it happen and it was so great to catch up with her. So to everyone out there who has been saying we need to get together: email me, tweet me, send smoke signals, whatever…… let’s just do it!
