My September in Pictures

www.fromtherightbank.com

September turned out to be a wackier than usual month. It started out in the hustle and bustle of Seoul then an impromptu trip took me to the boonies of the southern US to source things for the new FTRB shop. Talk about culture shock!

But it was all good and I’m really happy about the new phase of the FTRB shop and really thankful for your support.

In between travels, I made time for some fine food (of course):

and good art. I was happy to discover the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia right in my backyard:

I also got organized for another busy month ahead…..

and tried really hard not to freak out that Christmas is just around the corner! Eeek!

Happy October!

Checking in on the 2012 Decorating To Do List

www.fromtherightbank.com

I’m doing the quarterly check-in on my 2012 to do list and there are still way too many things that aren’t crossed off but just about item is at least partially done…..

Get all the art lying around framed and hung.
Everything is framed and almost everything is hung so we’re very close on this one.

Finish* the family room.
We’re 90% finished. A reveal is coming very soon.

Make a decision on the settee in the living room!

Finish* master bath – find new shades for sconces, get new rug(s), find towel rack, hang art, add mirrors.
I have a feeling this one is going to go into 2013…..

Reorganize closet – install rack for scarves and hooks for bags, organize jewelry, hang art.

Finish* guest room #1 -finish art wall, find better night stands.
Done! Yay! If you missed it, the reveal is here.

Finish* guest room #2 – get blinds, hang art.

Finish* the master bedroom – finish hanging art, find light for entry.

Finish* office – hang art and organize.
Almost done.

Rearrange art studio and organize all art supplies.
Almost done.

Do something with the laundry room – possibly wallpaper.

Redo entry – reupholster Napoleon settee, find rug.
Still trying to decide on fabric! I know, I’m the worst.

Okay, one more quarter to go in 2012. Realistically I don’t think I’ll get to the laundry room or finish the master bath but I think I can do the rest if I really put my mind to it….. I’m going to start with guest room #2 this weekend. A good friend of ours from France is coming to visit next week and I’d love to have the room 100% done before he arrives. Wish me luck!

Have a good one, see you Monday!

Living Room Panorma

www.fromtherightbank.com

Okay, so you know how I haven’t been able to get a shot of the entire living room because  I don’t have a wide enough lens? Well, I still don’t have one that can get the entire room in one frame but my new iPhone5 has a panorama option so I can take pictures like this! Does the room look different to you now seeing it in one shot? I’m a totally obsessed and want to take panoramas of everything! (Click on the photo for a larger version.)

Gold Bamboo Table Saga

www.fromtherightbank.com

If you follow FTRB on Facebook, you might have seen my post about finding these gold faux bamboo tables at Scott Antique Market last month. Well, someone posted on my Facebook page that they had the same tables and paid $25 for the pair! That made me feel a little sick because $25 didn’t even cover the tax I paid on one of these tables! When I asked her where she got hers and if they were identical to these, she never replied. That made me feel a little better but in the back of my mind, I couldn’t help but think maybe I really overpaid. Even though I love the tables, I didn’t like the idea of having grossly overpaid for them. I mean, who would?!

Well, the other day, I was on 1stdibs sourcing things for a project when what do I see but this:

The shape is different but this is unmistakably the same table – the design and shape of the bamboo, that lower shelf, the turned out feet….. and check out the price for this (one) table:

Oh yeah. I feel sooo much better now!

Jacques Grange-Designed Office for Aerin

www.fromtherightbank.com

I just have to share the office Jacques Grange designed for Aerin Lauder’s new home/fashion business not because I have a girl crush on her like all the bloggers seem to but because he’s one of my favorite designers and I always love his work.

What I like best about the design is that it’s professional but also feels like a home. The large beautiful art and statement pieces are all really well chosen and I love all of the white which keeps the light-filled space bright and airy. There is also a decidedly feminine feeling to the entire office which perfectly suits a home and fashion business.
