Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Well this has been some year, hasn’t it? Here on the old blog, we continued to go through some big changes and I can’t thank you enough for your support and friendship through it all.

I’ll be back here next week when we’ll celebrate FTRB’s six (6!) year anniversary! I have a feeling 2015 is going to be BIG so I’m more excited than usual for all the possibilities that a new year brings.

Until then, have a merry, warm and beautiful Christmas and holiday!

Spreading Holiday Cheer With HomeGoods

Namaste! I’ve just returned from Nepal and as you may have seen from my Instagrams, I fell in love with it all over again. I’ll share more about everything after I get myself settled but for today, let’s talk Christmas!

Planting paperwhites.

Planting paperwhites.

Before leaving for my trip, I wanted to do as much Christmas prep as I could since there wasn’t going to be that much time when I got back and also so we could enjoy it all a little beforehand. I was running around like a lunatic but it was worth it so I can now just enjoy. (I’ll post more pics of all the decor to Instagram (@FromTheRightBank) and Facebook over the next week.) The other thing I did before leaving was to participate in a HomeGoods holiday challenge.

I really love their challenges and this time they invited me to spread the holiday cheer by creating the perfect gift basket for a pet-lover. Being one myself, I loved this challenge. As you all know I’m a dog person but for this, I chose a good friend who recently adopted a new cat after her long time family pet passed away.

Armed with my gift card, here’s what I scooped up at my local HomeGoods…..

Toys, blanket, scratching pad, this pretty basket with gold handles and even the ribbon.

There were so many choices, I had a hard time choosing……

How cute is this tufted settee???

I got a really great assortment of things…..

and here’s how it looks all assembled and ready to go…..

It is so cute (if I do say so myself!) I can’t wait to deliver it.

Thanks to HomeGoods for inviting me to participate in this challenge. I know it’s going to be appreciated by both the kitty and her human!

Happy Independence Day!

Happy 4th of July!!! I hope you have a fun and safe weekend. I’m on my way to California to visit family and friends – so look for lots of palm trees, mouthwatering food and swimming pools in my Instagrams! See you when I get back!

Vote For FTRB

Hi, everyone, sorry for the shameless plug today but……

I just found out that FROM THE RIGHT BANK is a finalist for the Overall Best Design Blog award at the Design Blogger Hall of Fame Awards! I had no idea and I guess the voting has been going on for over two weeks already so I have some catching up to do. If you would like to show your support for FTRB (and I hope you do!), please take a minute to pop over and vote. You can find the ballot here. Thank you!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a real post!

Mint Green or Pink?

I’m working on a little girl’s room and I’m playing around with the idea of using either mint green or pink against a backdrop of gold and white. I like them both equally so I created a couple of moodboards to see how they would feel.

Looking at these boards isn’t really helping me decide. I still like both equally. What about you?

It’s opening weekend for the showhouse so it’s going to be another busy one. I’ll be drawing names by the end of the day for two pairs of tickets to see the house so if you haven’t entered yet, it’s not too late. Just leave a comment on Monday’s post and/or like Monday’s post on our  FTRB’s Facebook page. I hope to see you there!

Next Stop: Home!

After a merry and bright (and rainy and windy) week in DC, we’re heading home today. I can’t wait to finally be home for a while! Have a great last weekend of 2012, guys and I’ll see you Monday. Next week, we’re celebrating FTRB’s 4th anniversary!

Merry Christmas

Hello, hello!

So much for my plans for blogging during my trip! The internet situation made it impossible to spend any length of time online. (We basically had either no connection, a really weak connection or a good connection that was painfully S-L-O-W.) In a strange way, it’s nice to know there are still places left in the world where you’re not plugged in all the time.  Once I got over the initial jitteriness, I actually enjoyed being cut off and just being present where I was.

I’ll have to share some of my trip with you but right now, we’re heading straight out of town again to spend Christmas with my family. Even though we just got home, it was the only way our schedules would work so we’re going with it. I guess it’s a fitting way to end an especially busy travel year!

I hope you have a wonderful, merry holiday with your loved ones! See you a bit later in the week!

Happy Thanksgiving

Can you believe tomorrow is Thanksgiving?! I have a very long list of things to be thankful for this year and in all sincerity, you, the readers and all the friends I’ve met through this little blog of mine are at the top of the list.  After nearly four years of blogging, the connections I’ve made through blogging still amaze me.

I wish you and your families a very happy Thanksgiving. See you Monday after we’ve all stuffed our faces!

Technical Difficulties

Our internet has been down since yesterday afternoon and I’m having a total crisis because (sadly) I live on the internet. Thankfully I have the iPad and iPhone but blogging is just too awkward on those, not to mention all my photos are on my computers. So sorry, guys, no post today. A technician is coming out here tomorrow (the earliest appointment I could get) so hopefully I’ll be back in action by tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed!
