I know I have at least three house projects pending (at least that’s how many I’ve told you about!) but there’s one other little project that’s been in the back of my mind. Since I’ve been planning to call my painter for Project Hallway, I thought while he’s here, maybe it’s time to repaint the kitchen. Let me ‘splain…..

Before we moved into this house, I had the kitchen painted. For new readers, here’s a little recap of the before and after:

This was one of those rare occasions when I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted a gray kitchen and I didn’t even have to think about it. And I’ve been very happy with it but, lately I’ve really been itching to lighten it up in there and go all white. The marble countertops are a caramel color and white cabinets would be a great complement. I know it looks like that’s what the kitchen was originally but in fact, the cabinets were ivory/cream, as were the walls which I had painted white.

Anyway, I couldn’t find a singe photo with the same color marble, cabinets and walls so if you can imagine a combination of the three kitchens up top with this one below, that’s how I think it would turn out.

I also thought it might be fun to leave the island gray or use a different color altogether. I’m 90% sure I’ll go all white but here are some nice examples of using two colors really well:

So I’ve been mulling this over on and off but the thought of calling the painter makes me think now might be a good time to just do it.

And while I’m at it, I think I want to switch out the lights over the island to something like these pendants from Circa:

I want this look but not exactly these because they’re made of paper. Because the stove is on the island, they need to be a material I can thoroughly clean. If you’ve seen anything that fits the bill, please share in the comments!

And now it’s time for me to stop creating new projects and actually start executing some of them!

Creating instead of executing…I don’t ever do that. :)

I love the grey, but I can see why you would want to go lighter too. I’m sure it would brighten it a lot and make the countertops stand out too!

Yes to lighter and brighter!!I i have been wanting to paint my kitchen white for two years but have not executed it yet. I do know that is what I want though. Ha! Would love to know who you had paint your kitchen(I’m also in Atlanta)…and if it has held up well in the last couple years

The kitchen has held up great. I haven’t had to touch it up at all. The same painter painted my entire house. Let me know if you want him to email you and I’ll pass your address along to him.

Fantastic kitchen. The kitchen is the heart of your home. So it is very important for you to make the kitchen look beautiful and attractive. Selecting the right colors, lighting and appliances for your kitchen can make a big difference.

Thanks so much for taking time to comment! I read every one and reply through my own comments.
