Room Love: Cathedral-Like Library

An historic building re-imagined as a sleek, modern hotel gets me every time but especially when a tome-filled library is its centerpiece. This is the library/lounge of the new B2 Boutique Hotel in Zurich housed in a former brewery and it holds over 30,000 books!  My jaw dropped when I saw the extra high ceiling, arched windows and those light fixtures.

The belted chairs and tables are kind of cooky and funky, don’t you think?

I like what’s going on with the walls too. Overall I think the design is really original and does a great job of highlighting the architectural features of the building.

My jaw dropped open at that opening photo – LOVE it. If there’s a reason to visit Zurich (and there are many of course) I’d have to say the top reason is just to see that library in person! Thanks for sharing!

lovely! having a library with floor-to-ceiling shelves is a dream of mine… and i actually really love those chairs, they remind me of one i designed once with a corset so it’s good to see i’m not the only one who likes my chairs to cinch in their waists!

Thanks so much for taking time to comment! I read every one and reply through my own comments.
