Chandelier and Pineapples for the Porch

So the showhouse porch is coming along. One of the things I knew I wanted to do from the start was to replace the single light fixture that’s there now. Well, it just so happens I’ve had this faux bamboo chandelier with pineapples in my stash (don’t we all?) and I think it’s going to be perfect.

Of course it’ll need a little makeover first. I’ve been going back and forth between red…..

and green…..

(Ignore the Christmas tree, please. Or pretend it’s my house where I still have some decorations still hanging around!)

Either way, it’s going to be an improvement over what’s there:

Yup. A definite improvement. Anyway, I need to make a decision today so it can get painted and installed this week!

One other very cool thing is that the pineapples in the chandelier are going to echo these awesome antique stone pineapple finials which will be installed at the entry.

Aren’t they gorgeous?

As you know, pineapples are a symbol of warmth and hospitality. Just the thing to welcome visitors!

I vote for seasonal chandelier colors: switch them one out once in while. Pineapples are always in season. P.S. I haven’t been studying: What showhouse? Would hate to miss you or it.

I’d go with red – good contrast to the dark green trim on the porch (and I LOVE that Christmas’d up living room – so cozy!).

Have I ever mentioned that pineapples are my husband’s most favourite thing? I try to have them in the kitchen at all times (so delicious + they look fantastic as an accessory too! ;) ) He’s actually been growing a pair of them for a couple years now – from the tops of pineapples – they’re now a few feet tall!
(Note: perhaps an indication of slight madness – yes, these pineapples are being grown in our Toronto apartment!)
