Christian Lacroix and Hotel Sofitel So Bangkok

I’m still looking into places to stay in Bangkok on our layover in December and I’m officially overwhelmed. There are just way too many awesome places to stay and new ones keep cropping up all the time like the Sofitel So Bangkok, which opened earlier this year.

They say the design was inspired by the elements of water, earth, wood, metal and fire. From what I’ve been able to piece together, it was designed by a team of top Thai architects and interior designers with Christian Lacroix as art director. Since I love everything he does, I had a feeling I was going to like it!

Interesting, Ally. But I see so little of his wild stamp of creativity here. Hmmm, well at least if he hasn’t been around in Arles even less than usual at least I know why!
You can see glimpses of it but yes, I agree, it’s not as exuberant as his usual designs. I suppose it had something to do with the themes as well as working with a team rather than having full control. It makes you wonder what he thinks of it!
The Sofitel So is amazing, it’s my favorite new addition to the BKK hotel scene.
What an incredibly sexy hotel that perfectly balances elegance and exuberance. Love it!
