So much of the inspiration designers have been taking from India over the years can be traced back to its historic forts and palaces. Mighty Maharajas: Forts & Palaces of India by Amita Baig (The Vendome Press, September 2012) is a beautiful new book that captures a collection of these impressive structures dating from antiquity through the colonial period. Joginder Singh’s photographs of the historic architecture and opulent interiors are stunning. And if you’re a history nerd (like me), you will also appreciate the stories behind them.
