Homes I Love: Modern, Bohemian, Parisian

More and more I love homes that could be described as interesting rather than just pretty. Pretty is all well and good but frankly, pretty alone gets kind of boring. You know what I mean? I guess homes are like people in that respect!

I love a little bit of quirky, something a little off-kilter in interiors and this is something the French do really, really well.

This apartment of shoe designer Rodolphe Menudier is the perfect example.

There are funky accessories here and there, unexpected colors and some real-life clutter all coming together to create a vibe that’s lived-in but without being messy.

Of course, it never hurts to have those gorgeous architectural details and herringbone floors to make everything look good!

From this shot, I can see the apartment is also near Canal Saint-Martin – a very cool neighborhood. Oh, this makes me miss Paris!
Have a great weekend, guys, see you Monday!

the green kitchen is so charming!
i so wish u.s. manufacturers would produce french doors with the mirrors in them. if versailles can have them, why not us?
I’m sure you can have that done custom. It’ll probably cost an arm and a leg but I’m sure it’s doable.
I need more architectural moulding in my life…
Happy summer! LOVE LOVE LOVE! Great pictures! I loved keeping up with your blog! Love, Jamie Herzlinger
This apartment certainly does have a bit of a quirky side to it – especially love the Panton chairs at the dining table. Not something I’d envision for my own though certainly French modern. Great find!
Can you imagine living in that first one?!
Ally I so agree; I love a bit of the unexpected! These images are all wonderful!

LOVE. Such a sucker for pretty white moldings.
That third photo looks like my apartment but no fireplace .
