Tiny Gold and Marble Side Table

Last week I found this cute little side table at a local antique mall which I almost didn’t buy because when I picked it up I saw that the marble top was not attached to the legs.

The holes in the base made me think it needed to be screwed to the top and there was no way I was going to attempt to drill into marble! But after about a minute I realized that would be crazy and there must be another way. So I bought it, stopped by Home Depot, looked at a whole array of adhesives and ended up getting this:

“Bonds: wood, stone, metal, ceramics, foam, glass & more!” it said. You have to dampen the surfaces then spread it on and apply pressure for an hour or two. (I just put some heavy jugs on it and left it overnight.) It worked great!

Here it is in the living room. You may notice there is nothing across from it. That’s because the settee has finally gone to the upholsterer! It should be back next week. I can’t wait to see it!

Great find! It looks fantastic.
Love it! Glad you didn’t pass it up…gorilla glue works wonders!
It really does. Would you believe I had never heard of it before? Now I’m going to glue everything!
DELICIOUS!
I bought a little marble side table last year at the Rose Bowl Flea Market and it was unattached, too. And you know what? A whole year later, it still is. Ha!
You sound like me with most of my projects. This one had to be some kind of record for me!
ally, if you ever tire of that little table, think about me. I absolutely love it. I’ve used gorilla glue before, on terra cotta pots, I think, isn’t it just the best…? donna
Killer score! It turned out beautifully. Great job!
Beeeautiful. Is there anything Gorilla Glue can’t fix?
What an amazing find! Looks gorgeous.
I just used some construction adhesive to glue a marble top back to its scrolly brass base. Love the legs on your table – and always love a happy ending!
Fantastic find! It’s perfect in its new home too. Gorgeous photo and room!
Never would have thought gorilla glue would work for something like that. Good to know.
I loooove that table! So fabulous. I am a huge fan of gluing the heck out of stuff. Much easier than attempting to use my hubby’s tools.
Love the table, and how the whole room comes together. But, most of all, I love your bookshelves – they are beautiful! Like you, I am very nosy about bookshelves. Please do a post on the wonderful tomes in your collection – they look as interesting as they are aesthetically appealing!
Thanks, Holly, I just may do that once I stop rearranging them – if that ever happens!
