Living La Belle Vie: Expanding Your Horizons
I often get asked why I travel so much. Well, I just saw this commercial and it answers that question so beautifully and more eloquently than I ever could so I had to share it. Don’t be turned off that it’s a commercial. (This post is not sponsored in any way.)
The more of our world we see, the richer we become.
This is one of my mottos in life and I couldn’t be more grateful that I get to live by it. I can’t imagine ever stopping traveling because it’s true what they say, the more you see, the more you want to see. Now, I’d love to know what do you enjoy doing that broadens your horizons? Please share!

I couldn’t agree with you more. I actually just hung a world map over my couch so that I can look at it everyday and daydream about where I would love to be! I haven’t traveled that much, but just a simple road trip and site seeing really has changed me. I feel like traveling is now “in my blood”. Once you do it, there is no turning back!
If I could be in a different place everyday I would.
That is so true. It’s all about the change in environment and new experiences!
Oh this makes me want to hop on a plane and go!! You know how much travelling means to me and how much I miss doing so on a big scale. But Remi and I went on a week-long trip–just two hours away!–and even staying here in the South of France was full of lots of discoveries. Not as amazing as when you feel the rug totally pulled out from under your feet but still.
Lately, I have been listening to telecasts of the Gelek Rimpoche speaking at Jewel Heart (Buddhism) to broaden my horizons.
Bisous.
Ooooh that sounds interesting. I’m going to check it out tout de suite. Thanks for sharing that, Heather!
For me, the question is not why you travel, but how?? (as in the amount of money involved).
If you’re asking how do I personally do it, it’s the thing I choose to spend my money on the way some people spend it on say, season tickets to baseball games, collecting things or some other hobby. It’s also what we do as gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas. So it’s my hobby, vacation and gifts for special occasions all rolled into in one.
If you’re asking how do people in general do it, here’s what I can share. All of my close friends are also big travelers and while some of them are very well off, some of them have very little money to spare. It takes more planning and research if you’re doing it on a budget but they (and plenty of people I’ve met on my travels) prove that it can be done. I hope that answers your question?
