Happy Days Are Here Again

I am so happy, grateful and relieved to report that FTRB is intact and functioning normally again!!!*

Thankfully, in the end, none of my content was lost because I was able to piece everything back together from various backups. Here are a few interesting figures I noted in the process:

847 posts published
18,600+ comments left
6,200+ images published

Would you believe that more than half of those 6,200+ images were missing as of the beginning of this week? So that’s what I’ve been doing for the past 4 days – tracking them all down and loading them all….. back….. up….. Yeah. It was about as fun as it sounds. Between that and trying to get my site back online all of last week ….. man, would I like these past two weeks of my life back.

But. It’s all over now, it’s the weekend and I’d say a celebration is in order! I hope you have some fun this weekend too. And if you’re obsessed with Downton Abbey like I am, here’s a rap for you to start it off with:

Did you catch the refrain “And we sip earl grey when the day is done”? Speaking of which, get this:

Earl grey frozen yogurt! Where do I get my hands on this?

See you all Monday!

Congrats on getting everything back up and running. That’s an impressive number of posts/comments/images to have amassed. And, it makes me think I better go back up right now!!! I would be interested to hear how you store/archive/sort all of your images so a newbie like me might learn a little blog/web organization of her own. Cheers – CT

The main thing is to have your web host backup your site because that will backup all your data that runs your blog. With my host, there’s a simple request button you click and I imagine yours will have something similar. The other thing I do is to download all my image files periodically. Mine are organized by month and I try to download those every quarter or so. If you have those two pieces, you should have everything you need in case anything catastrophic happens – like it did with me! I hope that helps.

I bet it must have been more terrifiying and stressing than you make it sound! I guess if you weren’t that organized and determined…

Yikes! My hat’s off to you for having the determination and will power to re-load all of those pictures! Wow. A little over a year ago, I accidentally fried all the images from my blog. I got through about 20 posts worth of re-loading them, then called it off. Could not handle it. So really, I bow down. I know how much patience that would have required!
