Homes I Love: Swedish With a Surprise

I spent a couple of hours yesterday catching up on magazines and trying to find some inspiration for the family room. I’m currently in a Scandinavian mood ….. now I know what you’re thinking: “When aren’t you in a Scandinavian mood?” But sometimes I’m in a French mood and more and more these days, English. Anyway, I came across this home and thought yes, something like this.

Something very light, simple and clean.
But then I saw this part of the house:

Totally unexpected, right? To me this room almost looks like it belongs in another house. But can we just stop for a minute and take in that ceiling? Woooooooowwwww.
The rest of the house feels more like the first room and it’s just impeccably decorated:

P.S. I didn’t get a chance to post the winner of the Giveaway Number 3 yesterday so I’m doing it now. The winner is …..

#22. Elisabeth! Congratulations, I’ll be emailing you today.

Too gorgeous! The unexpectedness makes it all the better.
The light. The pale herringbone floors. The perfectly placed, beautiful pieces!!
There is something completely alluring about the Scandanavian look! Loving it at the moment too!!
Thx for sharing
Loved the various lighting….mixing styles within the same room.

Hello! I love this..of course. Though I too swing between French, Moroccan, Island style and back again, there is always a Scandi schwing implanted in my Swedish heart. Again..of course.
This home though is Scandi in a wonderfully continental and worldly way – white, light, airy and restrained yes – quadruple tick there. But also decadent in a subtle yet cheeky way that no ordinary Scandinavian would pull off..
It’s a curated home, with very confident and determined attention to detail. Loving the lamps (especially the bedroom trio) and the bleached herringbone floors.. (I die!).
I think the simple furniture (looks IKEAesque at times) is cleverly balanced by the magnifique and impeccably stylish bones of the actual space. The end result makes it all feel ‘expensive’ when in actual fact I don’t think it is. Very very well done.

DYING over these looks!!! I am making sure I have all of these pinned for inspiration!! Thanks for the gorgeous post!! xoxo
wow. i’m kind of obsessing over that rug!
I love this house, especially the sitting area…and that full length mirror
That room does look a little more glam, but I’m sure they were trying to work with that ceiling (yes, wow!) Beautiful space. I like that it’s scandinavian but with a little more edge to it.
I so want that dining room table! Sigh,
and the lighting
such a gorgeous home you found in your research, love when that happens
