Inspiration for the Family Room
With the living room and the dining room done, I’m now simultaneously working on finishing the master bedroom and family room. For today, let me show you some of my inspiration for the family room.

I’ve got a white slipcovered sofa in there like in all of these rooms and I’m just going back and forth about how much color I want to bring in. It looks a lot like this room right now:

and I really like this for the fall and winter. Then in the spring, maybe bring in some brighter colors like here:

and here:

(You might remember this from the apartment I posted earlier this year.)
Aside from the white couch, the common thread in all of these rooms is a really wonderful lived in feel – definitely what I’m going for since the family room is where we spend 90% of our waking hours.

Do you find yourself spending all your time in one room in your house too?

I’m itching to get a white slip covered sofa – I think it’s so ideal for a family room and can go so many different directions which you’ve shown here. I love that image from the apartment with the pretty splashes of color.

It is great to have a room with a bold use of white without it being too pristine. While the first and last images are very different stylistically, they both feel warm and “lived in”–very important for the family room. I’m excited to see how your family room turns out, Ally.
I love all the crisp clean white. And that first photos is awesome.
Lovely inspiration Ally – I can’t wait to see the direction you choose to go with for your family room. I have loved your previous re-dos and am certain this too will be fantastic!
Yes, we tend to hover in our kitchen / casual dining area – the two are semi-attached and it feels as if we manage to do most things at the table – art, homework, reading, board games, eating, baking.. It’s wonderful and since young legs, kitchens have been my favourite room of the / any house.
Have a lovely end to the week and ‘happy Halloween’ to you and yours.

Love your inspiration! They all have such a comfortable and cozy feel while still being stylish! Can’t wait to see the finished room!
I love a white-heavy room as it makes it so easy to change things up a bit season to season. We live in a loft where everything is open so, apart from bedtime, I’ve got no choice but to always be in the same room.
loving all of your inspiration!

The fireplace in the last photo is amazing. What a statement!
Looking forward to the final ensemble.

Great inspiration! The first photo is so pretty. Good mix of traditional, but not stuffy. Then again, those big beautiful windows help!
These are lovely! Love that first image for a reading area. Enjoy the rest of the week, Kellie xx

I’m in the middle of furnishing my family room which is where we spend all of our time – hey, it’s where the TV is.
I’m interested to see how to make the room feel lived in.
Love all these beautiful bright rooms! I’m a sucker for big windows.

These rooms are so cozy too, thats my favorite part, the layering, while they still look fresh and sexy. Love your home
