(No) Progress on the To Do List

Hmmmmm. I guess giving oneself a two-month deadline then going away for most of said two months wasn’t a very well thought out plan. Yup, it’s August 1 and there’s been basically no progress on that pesky To Do List. Well, I’m home for a few weeks so I’l just keep on keepin’ on and hope for a more productive month this month.

First up, two more reupholstering projects. (I swear I’m almost done with reupholstering!) Remember when I was all set to take this settee in for a makeover in blue?

Well before I got around to it, I stumbled on this fabric and fell in love (I seem to do that a lot, don’t I?)

I wasn’t sure what I would use it for but I brought it home anyway because that’s what hoarders resourceful people do. Then this weekend, I thought, “Why not try it out on the settee?”

That was it! The only thing I can’t decide on is whether to paint the wood. If I were to paint it, I would paint it white.

So what am I going to do with the blue fabric I was going to use on it? As luck would have it, it actually looks really good on the antique Louis settee that I’ve also been wanting to reupholster:

This type of furniture always look good with velvets. But then there’s that linen burlap I also got recently:

I love how it looks on it too.

So lots of decisions need to be made. Would you like to weigh in?

Oh I really love that fabric for the first settee. Great choice. As for the Louis settee I say go with the blue. It’s beautiful and feel like the linen burlap is predictable. Just my thoughts, can’t wait to see what you decide!

Heehee, you are going to be sorry that you asked because I actually prefer the blue instead of the new fabric and the burlap instead of the blue! But I know that you are far more adventurous than I am so it will turn out great (I do like the idea of painting the wood white if you go with the black). And that is my “completely untrained and uniformed” opinion. :)

    Bisous!

I think I’d actually swap the two. Put the blue with the first settee. I think the blue would look gorgeous with the dark brown wood (I just hate to paint wood…). And, then put the new black and white with the second. I think the dark geometric would make an interesting contrast with the softer lines/details and the colors would contrast nicely. I like the linen burlap, but I don’t know that I’d use it on either of those two pieces.

Choices, choices! I like the small dotted print on the first piece and the rich blue on your settee. If it’s being used at all, I think the velvet is going to last longer than burlap.

Thanks for your opinions, guys, you may be swaying me…..

One thing I should have mentioned is that the first settee is for the master bedroom where the black will work but that blue won’t.

That’s why you can’t go shopping and stumbling upon other fabrics when you are in process of re-upholstering a chair..haha kinda like continuing to look at wedding dresses when you have already picked on…..BUT I do love that fabric too. Can’t wait to see the final product. have a beautiful summer in

    XoXo

Now I’m not sure. I like what Sarah said, because I think the dark wood would compliment the blue also, but I too remembered that your bedroom has the black Tord in it. I like the black and white–that was my first instinct, but really, whatever you decide, it will look great.

My new kitchen cabinets are being installed. I’ve been waiting for them to be in before deciding on knobs/pulls, light fixtures (2) and a new kitchen dining set. I’m having the hardest time trying to find what I imagine for the breakfast table. I understand, and that is why I don’t make a list!

tough decision, both the blue and burlap look super good on the Louis settee. I’m leaning towards the linen burlap though, because it would really complete the french look of that particular piece (which btw has GREAT lines). then you could add an AWESOME pillow – ie: today’s post.

both of these pieces are FAB. where did you FIND them?

Girl, its painful to have to make decisions for your own stuff isn’t it? I say go black on the first, and either white paint or strip the wood to be unfinished. I like the blue on the second. Do it quick before you find any more fabrics! (Thats my kiss of death on a project).
    Can’t wait to see these!

You know, I totally understand these dilemmas 1. Can’t get the home redecorated because you’re 2. too busy traveling the world and when you get back there is the problem of 3. too many beautiful fabrics for the mind to grasp.
