Homes I Love: Cute, Modern Swedish

It’s Day 2 of Swedish Week here at FTRB and of course I have to include a Swedish home I love. This apartment is clean, modern, light and bright – all the things that make Swedish homes so wonderful.

Yes the birch wallpaper has been around the block but I think it still looks great. (Hear that, Sherry?)

This is one of those homes that’s inspiring but also totally attainable which is really nice to see every once in a while, don’t you think?

Remember, Swedish Week continues tomorrow with a little Swedish styling in my home.

I’m with you, still love the birch wallpaper. Also completely inspired by the smart storage solutions throughout this lovely little home! A modestly sized home but feels airy and full of character.

Love the photos. What is it about Scandinavian design that you can always tell where it’s from? And the feel is sometimes as cool as the weather, although beautifully simple. Love it.

Oh, I’m so excited about Swedish week!!! I have been following your blog for awhile now and absolutely love your style, perhaps because I too am enamored with both scandinavian and french design. I do have a question if you do that sort of thing. I LOVE the white frames, white mats, white walls look, but can’t seem to get it right in my own home. Should all the whites match? Should one be warmer than the other and if so, which one. Shiny vs. glossy? It looks so easy, and my white on whites look terrible and I can’t figure out why.

Can’t wait for the rest of the week.

Hi, Margo, yes, I do and I love answering questions like this. For the the white on white look to work, I think the whites do need to be in the same or at least similar tone. Whether they’re glossy or matte is less important and I think different finishes can actually make the look more interesting. It’s funny you bring this up – come back tomorrow to see what I’ve done in my own house and we can discuss it some more. :)

Love these photos. Really inspiring to see something clean and new, although nothing particular in each room is “new” (Like you said, we’ve seen birch wall paper.) I love the use of textures on the wall and the bold floor choices – like that print!

I can’t believe I missed Swedish week! I must catch up (was on vacation without access to the internet). This is such a cute place, it looks like so many of my friend’s apartments back home – the crisp white, bright and airy and “unmessyness” feels very Swedish.
