Check Out My Bargain Find for the Guest Room

I’ve been wanting a dresser for the guest room and when I was out and about last week, I came upon this pretty little dresser at a local junk/antique shop.

Solid wood, dovetailed drawers, drawer dividers – all in all, a good quality piece. The slightly distressed black finish is nice too but I’m thinking about painting it. It’s going to share space with my crazy elephant chair. Remember her?

I’m really loving the color coral right now and the dresser could be really cute in a shade that picks up the corals in the chair. Here are some examples of coral dressers I found:

They’re not the same style but you get the idea. There are so many colors in the pattern that I could go a number of different ways. Even the black would work as is. But since it’s the guest room and I don’t have to see it everyday I feel like being more adventurous. Add it to the list of projects …..

By the way, I’ve been forgetting to mention that if you read FTRB through a reader, I gave the blog a small makeover a few weeks ago so I’d love for you to click over to the site and check it out. Any feedback would be appreciated too. Thanks!

wow, you are getting my creative juices flowing again, regarding my own vintage bureau i have sitting in the basement, half sanded down and ready for its finishing facelift. this will be amazing! i also almost always change out the hardware in pieces like this, the drawer pulls etc. it’s another way to change it up or funk it up, whatever the look is you are going for. can’t wait to see what you do! enjoy…

First off, what an awesome find! The shape and the handles are great! I’m a sucker for black furniture, so i like it as is. But that last image of the coral dresser, might have swayed me a little bit! Either way i can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Great find Ally! I love the scroll detail on the second drawer down. That coral/orangy color from your inspiration pics will be fantastic too. I have several small tables around the Reslus Arms that need new paint. I just can’t seem to psych myself up for it. Good luck to you!

No Ally, no! Please don’t paint it! Oooh, it is so be-you-ti-ful as it is. Ok, you know my gothic tendancies, mais comme même! That girl is a beauty as she is. Truly.

You always find the best things! I actually kind of agree with Heather. It has a lot of soul as is. Maybe switch out hardware and add some fun fabric or shelf lining to the drawers? They can be your secret pop of color.
