My New Lucite Coffee Table – Or Is It a Bench?

Sherry has been looking for a lucite coffee table. I, however, have not been looking for such table because I need another coffee table like ….. well, you know. So why do I now have one in my house?
A couple of weeks ago I saw a vintage 1960′s lucite table and thought it was perfect for her. Well, it turned out to be too long for her space but it was such a great piece – really solid, in nearly perfect condition and just gorgeous. So, of course, I just had to get it. Again, having no need for it, I had to remove the wooden coffee table in the family room to make room for it.
I’ve been liking it there but the more I look at it, the more I think it would be better used as a bench like these:

(Mine looks exactly like the one above – long, narrow and that thick.)

I don’t need another bench either but I don’t need a bench a little less than I don’t need a coffee table! Â Make sense?!

Love it either way but as a bench–could it be a glamorous addition to your dressing room?
That would be so nice but sadly, there is no room in the dressing room.
Ally, I love it either way! I am on the hunt for a lucite table that I can use as a desk. Since you have such good luck, will you keep your eye out??
Thanks and have a good day!

Absolutely!
I love it as a bench because I love the addition of some colour/fabric.

lucite is coming back in a big way.
{it never really went away for the bubbies of miami beach}
however, these are terrific pieces….
the tufted bench is fabulous.
down here in glitzy south florida
you can always find lucite of some sort in a home.
Really nice as a bench to soften it a little bit. I like the hierarchy of things you don’t need!

Ha! It’s comical at this point, isn’t it?
Send it here if it troubles you! Love it for either!
Where, pray tell, did you find your bench? I love them but fear that one as beautiful is out of my budget.

I got mine at a local antique mall. I’ve seen a lot of vintage lucite lately and the prices seem to be all over the place so don’t give up.
I love the idea of using it as a bench. I’m sure you could find a spot somewhere for it!

My favorite lucite piece is a bench-so I am partial to saying you should go for it and make it into a bench! Love that first picture example!

I’ve been on the hunt for that exact coffee table too…damn!
The beauty of lucite is that it’s invisible, so where ever you stash it it will almost disappear.

Makes PERFECT sense…or just re-sell!
versatile, plus 10! i say make it a bench one season and a coffee table the next. mix it up! use it as a coffee table and when guests come, turn it into a bench for extra seating. Either way, it is a great piece that can be used in so many different ways. its a keeper.
love these!

Totally understand. One never NEEDS a lucite anything, but one should never let a vintage lucite object go unclaimed.
These are gorgeous examples of clear acrylic waterfall benches! I prefer them with legs, but these have a nice ‘retro’ feel to them.
