My New Addiction: Ebay

This past weekend, I bought my first item on eBay. Actually I bought two: two antique oil paintings.
As you know, I’m a huge art lover and I’m always on the lookout for interesting or special pieces. I never thought to look on eBay before (I don’t know why) and I couldn’t believe all the great things I saw! I’ve never bought art without seeing it in person so it was a big leap of faith to send over a big chunk of dough sight unseen. I hope I don’t end up regretting it! They’re both coming from Europe so it’s going to take a while for them to arrive. I can hardly stand the anticipation!
In the meantime, I can’t stop browsing, checking my bids, checking my watch list ….. This could get dangerous. Anyone else addicted? Â What have you bought?

I’ve bought vintage and original art, vintage clothes and accessories, cowhide rugs, fabric an nailhead trim. So many great things!
I would say that I am in an ebay recovery program. I browse every day, but I only buy once and awhile. I buy in spurts. My husband panics if too many packages arrive at the house in a week! I spend the majority of my time looking at furniture. I typically buy interesting things that I can’t find locally. I buy clothes and games for the kids. I bought my knock off chandelier on ebay. I bought a Ralph Lauren Duvet made out of a beautiful piece of fabric. It feels amazing to the touch. It only lasted two days on the bed–I couldn’t take the stress of having something so nice. My kids are hooligans. They are always jumping, eating and coloring–they don’t sleep with us, but they are always in our room. I felt like I couldn’t protect the duvet. I know that sounds crazy, but the fabric is gorgeous. I’m contemplating using the fabric to make shades for the hallway. Have a great day and happy shopping.
Hooligans – hilarious!
I love those paintings. Ia m also ebay addict and keep buying stuff from them. Do let us know that store you bought from so we can check them out.

No, used to sell quite a lot, but the person who loves to buy on ebay in this house is Isabella, she loves the strategy of bidding with 5 seconds remaining, etc.! Love the look of the paintings, hope they come just as you hope! Janell

I have bought all kinds of things from ebay; from emergency bridal dress (my “real” dress got ready on time, so neer used the ebay dress and sold if for $200 profit) to semiprecious beads… Today I am looking for a julienne peeler.
was addicted….under control now….but it was scary at times……very fun!….

You’re so cutting edge
I used to buy vintage lamps on ebay a long time ago, but now I find it to be too cluttered and too full of commercial items (meaning, lots of businesses using ebay as a portal.)
Curious to see how this works out–the painting look amazing, and I hope you love them when they arrive!

I often buy on ebay, I love a good bargain
.
I’m not sure if it’s the same in the states, but here in the UK there are lots of charities you can support just by clicking through to ebay using the link on their page.
http://buy.at/humanism For example this website which lets you search for the charity you wish to support. They get a small percentage of the total purchase price. Every little helps though!
That’s so great – thanks for sharing that!
I love eBay, especially for clothes. And shoes. Okay, and fabric. And for the renovation I scored some mega-expensive faucets (over $2000 each) for 1/10th that price. I’m addicted but at peace with it.

Whoa – what a deal! I clearly need tips from you!
I have many unsuccessful bids on ebay. There are those pesky 11th hour bidders who come along and snap everything up. Great finds!

These are lovely! Sean receives google alerts on all his favorite artists. It’s amazing what surfaces on EBay.
Oh, I am a HUUUUUGE addict! I shop there way more than I would like to admit!

Your first time!? Seriously?! Finally, I found something you were not first with! Ha ! (:
I used to have a store on E-bay and you will find many great E-Bay finds at my home. Both E-bay and Etsy will keep you up all night…
Hugs to you, hope all is well!
Mon
I buy nearly everything on eBay. I’ve even bought a school bus and land, sight unseen, from eBay. The bus was so nice and the land was so beautiful I’ll be spending the rest of my life in the area!
I haven’t taken the leap. So excited to hear how you like these paintings in person. They look beautiful!
