Lonny + Traditional Home = Trad Home!

I have been waiting for the launch of Trad Home, the online collaboration between Lonny and Traditional Home, ever since I first heard the buzz a few(?) months ago.

The word “traditional” used to make me shiver but that has slowly changed since moving to Atlanta and into a traditional style home. Being a firm believer in respecting the style of house when designing the interiors, I began incorporating more traditional pieces into my home - somewhat reluctantly at first. As I did, I began to see it as the perfect backdrop for my Scandinavian and French leanings and now I completely embrace it.

I even began subscribing to Traditional Home (which I’ve been loving) and of course, I’ve loved Lonny from Day 1 so ever since I heard they were getting together, I’ve been waiting with bated breath. And the first issue does not disappoint with over 300 pages. Here are just some of my favorite shots.

I liked the piece with jonathan adler and charlotte moss, didn’t you? but I’m kinda trying to break out of the traditional mold. being from the south, I’ve grown up with traditional and I’m so ready for a change. I really like Jeff Andrews’ take on traditional, and the photo you have of his is one of my faves of his. And I like Ryan Korban’s edgy traditional, too. I just gotta break away from all this dark furniture I see around me and figure out how to mix it up. Blogs are really helping but it’s a struggle for me to get it right in my own space…

Yes, that was a great feature! It’s funny – we’re coming from opposite sides of the spectrum and yet we love most of the same things. :)

I spent way too much time last night browsing through TradHome !
Living in a country where getting mail is a PIA and the home magazines not being in English, I am always so happy when I can see my magazines from “home” .. even if they are online.
I chose wallpaper and sofas last night.. lol… figured I would pretend I could buy what I see in the pages of Traditional Home and have them here. ( at least I can copy them here, maybe)..
I wonder if they sell Fig trees here..
Below- my blog from last night :)

I really adored this first issue! It was chock full of gorgeous images…I spent a lot of time poring over them along with the articles. While I definitely appreciate rooms that are “traditional,” at first glance, I would affirm that this wasn’t my style, but I think this magazine re-defines the typical notion of “traditional” and makes it fresh as well as classic!

Wow. Clearly, I am all alone here (or have been living overseas for too long) but I was disappointed. Everything and I mean every single little detail was too “perfect”, too matchy–the rooms presented did look like part of the coolest hotel in the universe but not a home. Maybe it was just the way it was all shot?

I loved it all!! Although my style is not completely traditional, I can see incorporating a little bit of the look into every room in the house. Can’t wait to see more!!
