Corner of My House + a Fig Tree Status Report

Hi, everyone, how was your weekend?

One of the things I got around to doing was hanging more art around the house and I wanted to show you one corner of the family room. The top painting is of a Paris street that I picked up at a local antique mall a while back and the bottom one is of a Seattle street by Julia Hensley, a fantastic artist based in Seattle. The clover shaped ceramic stool is also a local antique store find and the planter is from Ikea.

I know a lot of you were concerned for my fiddle leaf figs that I brought home a couple of months ago. (I was too given my history with plants.) The good news is I haven’t killed them yet – they’ve actually even grown some – but I am a little worried that the new leaves are spotty on the ends. If any of you plant experts have advice, please share.

looks beautiful. I may be way off but are the leaves getting wet then maybe a little burned from the light. I know it happens to my hydrangeas.

That could be it – I have been leaving them outside (because I read you should do that in warm weather) and they have gotten rained on quite a bit lately. I’ll bring them in now and see if that helps. Thanks, Paula! :)

Love those two paintings paired together!
I have no tips for the plants but have been thinking of buying a fig for our living room….so I’ll come back to see what everyone has to say.
Hope you had a great weekend in this gorgeous Atlanta weather!

I’m thinking you may be seeing ‘leaf spot’ its fungal…kinda like athletes foot. Like an above poster mentioned, try not to get water on the leaves…particularly in your humid location of Atlanta…Maybe prune a few leaves for better circulation.

And BTW…these are just what I would do….no horticulturalist here!

The paintings MWAH! Clearly important places to you! Gorgeous!

Awe, your figgy looks good and happy! If you’re fertilizing it, it could be getting a wee bit too much, some of my plants only like the minutest amount of fertilizer and that only every once in a while…too much makes the tips burn. If you’re not fertilizing…then I’m clueless…sorry. Thanks for the update!
Love your walls…wish we had done horizontal panel, so southern! I checked out Julia’s sight, it was fun to look at all the locals she’s painted…thanks for the intro. Paris and Seattle make for a wonderful duo…who knew?!
