The Purple Mood Continues with a Striking Home
Lavender and all shades of purple have been on my mind lately so I flipped when I saw this house done entirely in purple.
Purple is a really bold choice for the basis of your entire decor and not easy to pull off. But when it’s done right like in this apartment, it’s pretty spectacular.
Ideas for incorporating these looks into your own home:
The wallpaper is by Manuel Canovas and you know how much I love his designs. And check out the magazine holder in Fornasetti’s Mediterranean pattern that I posted about here.
The home belongs to Italian journalist and tv personality, Paola Maugeri and the spread is from Hachette Home, a magazine I bought in Italy. (They don’t seem to have a website.)
Thanks for all the nice comments on FTRB’s new look this week! (If you read FTRB through a reader or email, I hope you’ll click over to have a look at the redesign.) Have a great weekend!

I LOVE how the chairs just melt into the walls….brilliant!!! Hey, and she kept the side table.
Have a great weekend!!
I’ll have to find another one then!
Is that a citron table? More genius. Now I feel better about painting my table orange, ha!
I thought so too! I LOVE your orange table too.
I LOVE some purple! I probably would use it a powder room because like you said, purple is a great color as long as it’s done right! I can’t imagine being able to pull off a larger space done with purple!
Happy Friday!
More purple…..girl…..you are just going to have to use it…..
I like purple, but maybe as an accent. Two houses ago I did a daughter’s bathroom in a saturated lavender and hung a big old black and white inlaid bone mirror from Wisteria… did crisp white linens with black monograming and framed black and white etchings. The lavender made the space intimate without being overwhelming.
I am not sure I could commit to much more purple than that.

I love a lavender room…so beautiful. Have a wonderful weekend!!
I like purple for other people who love it
. For myself, I grew up with a mom who looked fabulous in purple, but believed every room should only have a touch of purple…not too much. I just think people should do what makes them happy. Really enjoying these purple posts, will have to share with my father in law. Purple is his absolutely favorite color and when he recently moved into his new condo, I painted his entire living area lavender and his bedroom a deep restful plum. He loves it and to this day always thanks me for it…it makes him so happy
! But guess what he wants me to paint his bathroom…bright orange!
Your father in law sounds like the perfect client!
Purple and orange? Not many people would let you do all that! You probably know orange is my favorite color so I think that’s awesome.
i can’t believe how amazing the purple looks. i may have to rethink my color options for my rooms!
Wonderful tour and beautiful touches of purple!
I’m not a huge purple fan but I do love the Canovas wallpaper – THAT is fabulous!! But I have a weakness for toile as you can see if you saw my powder room feature this week. Have you been over to visit little augury? She’s on a MAJOR lavender bender!!
I love toile too – it’s such a classic!
Love the purple…. especially with a dash of goldenrod thrown in. The pillows I’m doing a giveaway for on my blog would look fab with purple.
Ally,
Oooh the velvet chair and lavender pitcher!

these purples look amazing on your blog! I like that bath. Happy Friday
WOW, I really like the shade in that first picture. My bathroom is a very light lavender but that color makes me want to pump it up a little haha.
Btw, please stop by and enter my little giveaway! xoxo
It’s so inspiring to see how you can do your back cover of a chair the same as the wall behind it! Love it! That is definitely thinking outside the box. It’s like built in art.
Congratulations on the redesign! It looks fresh and airy.
an italian shelter magazine is pretty much the ultimate authority….
except for a french pastry chef. {though both have the power to make me drool…}
Loving purple….hope it pops up in decor and fashion more this year!
wow! How great is this…and the new look is so chic…just like you!
