Really Loving Lavender and Red

This room has been a favorite of mine for a long, long time. As usual the architectural details just kill me and I love the the furniture and art. But the thing I love most are the colors!

When I was in Italy, I was in this really cute cafe and they had some old magazines sitting around and in an old issue of Italian Elle, I saw this:

I’m completely in love with this room! The lavender bookshelves and that glossy red table are such a great combination. (And wouldn’t that crown hanging from the ceiling be perfect for my crown collection?)

It also reminded me of the Schanbels’ bedrooom from Elle Decor a while ago:

So I dug around some more in my files and found these:

It’s not a combination you see very often so it feel really fresh to me. I’m now sort of obsessed.

Thank you for this post! I recently purchased a new couch that has a plum/purple undertone. My accents in the room prior to the purchase where and continue to be red. The colors do go together quite well and I’m loving it. Seeing these photos make me know the combination WORKS!

You wouldn’t think this color combo would work well but it is pretty nice. I think most people who are repainting their homes are afraid to go bold and play it safe with light muted tones. It is a tricky line to walk though, you don’t want to go too dark and lose your natural sunlight. Great pics thanks for sharing.

Maybe lavender should have been the Pantone color of the year…it’s popping up everywhere!
