Really Loving Lavender and Red

This room has been a favorite of mine for a long, long time. As usual the architectural details just kill me and I love the the furniture and art. But the thing I love most are the colors!
When I was in Italy, I was in this really cute cafe and they had some old magazines sitting around and in an old issue of Italian Elle, I saw this:

I’m completely in love with this room! The lavender bookshelves and that glossy red table are such a great combination. (And wouldn’t that crown hanging from the ceiling be perfect for my crown collection?)
It also reminded me of the Schanbels’ bedrooom from Elle Decor a while ago:

So I dug around some more in my files and found these:

It’s not a combination you see very often so it feel really fresh to me. I’m now sort of obsessed.

I hadn’t considered this colour combo before either, but thanks to your lovely post I can totally see it working!
Loving this too…xv

Okay, if you love this combo, please pick up this month’s Country Living. The cover is this combo. (or you can just borrow mine)
Love this color combo – very regal!! And looks like a more European scenario to me – like in an Italian palazzo with modern lighting.
anyone in those rooms would just have to feel awesomely happy all the time…
Isn’t it divine? This has been one of my favourite colour combinations for quite some time. The photos from Marie Claire Maison and Elle Decor are my favourite.
xoxo, B
I would never think to put this combination together, but these images are gorgeous!!
I love this color combo also! I am sure you can find somewhere to use it in your home.
How interesting. In my mind’s eye it’s not something I would have ever thought goes together. It’s actually very nice.
This is a combo I never would have really considered but you’re right- it’s so fresh and unexpected. It has an air of luxurious grandeur but also feels really modern- love.
It always makes me so happy to hear I’ve shown you something you hadn’t noticed or seen so many times before.
Brenda: you were ahead of the curve!
love the last image so much. lavender and red? who would have thought….
how totally regal and royal – love, love, love it! i also loved the write-up on Schanbel too!
Thank you for this post! I recently purchased a new couch that has a plum/purple undertone. My accents in the room prior to the purchase where and continue to be red. The colors do go together quite well and I’m loving it. Seeing these photos make me know the combination WORKS!
Loving the pretty colors! They are gorgeous! Enjoy the beautiful day, Kellie xx
Ouuuu…I really like this combination!
so beautiful! i love love this combo.
You wouldn’t think this color combo would work well but it is pretty nice. I think most people who are repainting their homes are afraid to go bold and play it safe with light muted tones. It is a tricky line to walk though, you don’t want to go too dark and lose your natural sunlight. Great pics thanks for sharing.
Those purple walls knocked me over! Amazing. It’s the kind of thing that sounds crazy, but when you see it….it’s magic! xoxo
Well aren’t you just showing us something so fresh! That is one combination I have not used in my 20 years…..I really like it though!
purple is like an undercover fav of mine. as a child i didnt like it. but now it has crept into my wardrobe and taken over some how. and YES IT is a fresh unexpected color (especially w/ red) for interiors….hmmmm might have to try it. it always give off opulance and we dont think of our every day life that way…interesting….great post!
AH, love love love! Please put this combo in your house so I can live vicariously through you (there is no way my boyfriend would ever let me paint a room *gasp* purple! grr)!
I would never have come up with this combo but I think it is stunning, Ally. They work really well together. (But there are also some stunning furnishings in those rooms. I clearly need to sell more boots…)

This is so NOW. I love it – it’s fresh and classic at the same time. Thanks for the beautiful post.
Maybe lavender should have been the Pantone color of the year…it’s popping up everywhere!
I’ve always loved it…I’m actually going to order lavender ticking sheets soon….we’ll see how those work out!

Omigoodness, who knew?? Long live lavender and red!
