I Now Have Five Chairs to Redo. Five. I Must Be Stopped.

A few weeks ago, I found this Milo Baughman chrome frame chair at an antique shop (I think its name is Antique Factory – in Chamblee). They were 100 smackers and that was a deal I just couldn’t pass up.

Then I saw this Manuel Canovas fabric which I had never seen before and it was love at first sight. It’s called Atlantis. Here’s a closer look so you can see the beautiful texture:

I think it would look amazing on the chrome frame, don’t you? It also comes in this lovely shade of lavender and you know how I’m feeling about lavender these days:

And remember these chairs?
They’re still waiting to be reupholstered and I think that fabric would look great on these too.
And if you follow me on Facebook (which I hope you do!), you saw that yesterday I bought these:

It’s hard to tell from the photo but they’re black velvet with brass frames. They were from an antique store called Decatur Estate and I have to thank Sherry because she was the one who found them and showed them to me then even drove me over there to get them!
I have no need for them and have no idea where I’m going to put them but I couldn’t resist, especially with everyone’s encouragement! (There were like 20 comments on Facebook, I couldn’t believe it!) I do have about a hundred ideas of how to re-do them though. And before you even ask, no I will not be doing any of this myself!

Finally, remember I was on the hunt for a fiddle leaf fig tree? A lot of people suggested Home Depot. They didn’t have any when I went last month but I popped in there to get some other stuff yesterday and they had these smaller ones for only $10 each. I’m told they grow very fast so I hope to have tall trees in no time. If I don’t kill them first, that is.
So I’d say it’s been a productive couple of weeks in the shopping department!
Have a great weekend, everyone and thanks for the really great discussions this week!

Ally! Your chairs are fabulous! I sometimes tend to collect and collect before I actually do something with whatever it is. I’m getting better.

Super productive….gotta say…I love that fabric and can’t wait to see how the chairs turn out!

Ally, I did the same thing with the SAME types of chairs! I have a pair of very similar chrome Milo Baughman chairs, and then a set of four of the identical brass framed chairs (two armchairs and two side chairs). And now I’ve been trying to unload my brass framed chairs for the past year, lol. If you (or anyone!) want them to add to your chair party, they’re yours
The Manuel Canovas fabric is to die for. Perhaps it will make my brass chairs feel a little less neglected and inspire me to finally find a home for them.
your post today will probably be my favorite of the day! all great chairs but those last two? divine. and that fabric is terrific. AND a fig???? you be livin’ right, gal!
a perfect gray’s last post…should I wallpaper my new bath
Love this post as I’m a chair fanatic myself. What is it about them!!! They’re so expressive and I’m driven to buy the dowdy ones and transform them to their rightful glory. I love it that now even the little uncomfortable ones can be used to display books, hold a tray with candles, etc. Glad to find a kindred spirit!
Bramin? Braughmin??
I say go purple. Don’t play it safe! That lavender on the chrome would kick ass.
Hey – there are certainly worse addictions!! Love the Canovas – I think I actually prefer the gray – very elegant!

You are like me,…you LOVE chairs!!!! I find chairs take up a lot of space in the moving truck when it is time to pack everything up! lol I try not to even look at chairs anymore. I have a great pair of vintage ones that I will always keep. I love your plants! I may have to get me one.

These chairs are awesome. Don’t blame you at all for picking them up. Do you do the upholstering yourself?
Join the club, Ally. I literally have a “waiting room” full of to-do chair projects. And I’m always looking for more???
definitely a productive few days of shopping .I can’t wait to see how the chairs turn out, especially the last two.

Kristen: That’s uncanny. We have all the same chairs? LOL!
Amy: Nope. I know better than to do that!
Kim: That’s my problem too. I just can’t stop myself!!
Loving that Canovas fabric! I have GOT to get over to the showroom and check out their stuff again.
PS- did you ever get yourself X-stools? I had some made for a client and gave a little peek of them today. Made me think of you

Wow, I am the same way…I already have 3 chair projects waiting patiently, but I decide to buy one more…crazy. Also, thanks for the heads-up on the fiddle leaf fig at Home Depot, I’ve been wanting to add one to my living room for awhile now!

I would do the purple on the Baughman chairs – you are right, it would be amazing.
I like the black velvet/ gold thing. At least its something that you can live with, unlike a lot of other flea market finds that need to be hidden away until they are reupholstered and presentable.

you could actually upholster a card board box with his fabrics and it would be a show stopper!

Carol: That’s what my husband says – he doesn’t know what the house is going to look like when he gets home every night!
Only $10…I might run over there now and get one ha. I’m usually one to kill plants too.
All these chairs are gorgeous, I’m sure you’ll find the perfect place for each one of them.
I would!
Have a nice weekend, with all these chairs I’m sure that this week was fantastic, so, now, relax.
Hugs

Hi my friend,
I can see a little business coming out of this! Find nice chairs in need of some love, re-upholster them and sell in your shop “Ally’s Ally”!. I would buy one or two!
Lavender fabric = antique chairs.
Manuel Canovas fabric = first chrome chair
I am curious to see what you will pick for the last set of chairs. That is a hard one. Something solid though, and with perhaps one accent stripe. I see orange, black and white. But I don’t know why!
Happy weekend to you. We are off to Vancouver!
Mon
would go with the chrome chair, but definitely the antique chairs (will give the a well deserved pop). I like
Holy Catfish…..are you me? Chairs are like jewelry…..can’t have enough. I love them all…what to do, what to do. Lets confuse even more and look for fabrics

I love chairs – my husband has to stop me from buying them at the flea market every month. These are fabulous Ally! Can’t wait to see them recovered!

I am a chair addict. I actually have several farmed out to friends and family members because I have no more room at home. It’s so hard to pass up a great chair for an even better price though. You found some great ones.
LOVE the fabric. can’t wait to see that bad boy in action!
Congrats on finally finding your fig tree. I’m thinking positively for you that you won’t kill them!

You got the chairs!!!
My vote: the lavender.
If you find that you have one too many chairs (or fig plants) give me a call.
Splendid Willow: Thanks for your always great suggestions!
sherry: You know we have to!
dayka: Really? I’d never heard of that place before!
angela: Will do!
That fabric is really spectacular! It will look great wherever you put it and on whatever you put it on!
Maybe we could share in the ‘raising’ of your new fig plant…it would be fun to watch it grow up with you!
Have a great weekend…xo J~
Sherry told me she “coaxed” someone into buying the black chairs. I am so glad it was you. These chairs are great. Matter fact all of your chairs are great.
