Three Bloggers, One Designer Showhouse, Lots of Pictures

www.fromtherightbank.com

Last week, Angela from the Painted House, Claire from High Gloss Blue and I took a road trip up to Cashiers which is a cute little town about 3 hours from Atlanta in the mountains of North Carolina. On our agenda was a tour of the 2010 Cashiers Designer Showhouse, a little antiquing and a lot of blog talk. It was as fun as it sounds!

First things first, we had to stop and eat. (We have our priorities straight.)  We stopped in at the Orchard in Cashiers. How cute is this place?

Loved this porch! To me, there’s nothing more Southern or charming. Oh, and do you see what a perfectly beautiful day it was, too? It’s cooler in the mountains. I may have to move up there.

After lunch, off to the showhouse we went:

where we were greeted by these cuties:

then as soon as we walked in the front door, we were met with the greatest view. We couldn’t stop oohing and aahing.

Here’s a better look:

I went mad for all the copper piping:

This bedroom was one of my favorite spaces because of the color palette and all the lovely details:

This was a seating area on the upstairs landing and those “upholstered” walls were just nailheads tacked directly into the wall! Is that clever or what?

My favorite room in the whole house was probably the little girl’s room which really says something because having no kids, I’m usually not that into kids’ rooms. But this one was so fun, I loved every inch of it.

Remember Mr. Bubble?

Here are some of my favorite details from the rest of the house:

I hope you enjoyed the virtual tour. For more photos and information about the designers featured, check out Angela’s post.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s showhouse!

So stunning …. and so much to comment on! I love the home, it's so foreign to me, living in an urban environment, but I always dream about a rustic luxury home in the woods somewhere. I'm dying for that light fixture, and you're right, the little girls' room is full of amazing ideas!

I can't believe all those amazing design ideas were contained within one house. The metal tacks in the wall are incredible – imagine that took a few days to complete!

Ally, wish I was there the same time you girls were! I am the designer who did the girls bedroom/bath. Thanks for your sweet comments! I will be launching a new blog/website in a few days and I will be divulging sources, colors, etc. for the room (fyi-just about everything in there is a DIY project–including Mr. Bubbles!)For now, people can check me out on facebook (Shannon Berrey designs at Yesterday's Tree)Thanks!

Ally, how fun! Thank you for sharing.

After seeing this, I am looking at our girls' room and thinking it needs more color. What if I, with my more toned down colors, turn my 2 girls into less vibrant people!??? Yikes! Kids and colors go hand in hand!

    Love to you, Mon

Ok, I'm a bit envious – this looks like such a fun day! (plus I've always wanted to go to the North Carolina mountains!!) That view is absolutely amazing!

Terry: That portrait was a favorite of mine, too. I believe the house is new but I have no idea who the architect was. It was in the Wade Hampton Golf Club if that helps at all.

angela: Me, too! And your pictures are better . . .

robyn: You are so welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Pemberley: Yup, right into the wall. That was the brilliant thing about it.

Jade: The designer is Shannon Berry and she just commented that she'll have a list of all her sources when her new site launches. Check out her FB page for now.

Dayka: The food and service at the Orchard were very good. (See the link at the beginning of the post.) It's a tiny town so other than that, there were just a couple of cafes.

Shannon: How exciting! We'll all be headed to your new site when it launches. Can't wait! Thanks for letting us know!

a perfect gray: We stopped in Highlands on the way – it was soooooo cute! I'm totally going back one of these days. :)

Pretty Pink Tulips: You said it, sister! I haven't had that much fun in ages!

Wonderful pictures! What a spectacular house and setting! Does anyone know the source for those great pendants in the kitchen? I've been searching for something like those for awhile now.

Hi, I'm from Charlotte and feel like there's nothing, especially in summer, like the NC mountains! Cashiers is beautiful! Did you happen to make it by the Chattooga Club? http://www.chattoogaclub.com/ If not, put it on your places to visit next time you find your way up the hill. It's one of the most charming places I've visited. Asheville is beautiful too and of course I think the Inn on Biltmore Estate is the place to stay. http://www.biltmore.com/stay/inn/default.asp The Grove Park Inn comes in a close second for me: http://www.groveparkinn.com/Leisure/ Ok, enough spam about NC mountains, just happy to see it posted! Oh yeah, and surely I've told you before, but I love your blog!

Oh, I spent every summer growing up in Lake Toxaway which is just up from Cashiers. (Even got married up there). We'd come to Cashiers to rent movies, grocery shop, etc. Love this part of the country and looking forward to looking at these photos in more depth when I have some time. Love the little girl's room!

  13. Hunter

Does anyone know the name of the floral fabric that was used on the headboard in the girls room? I am in love with it!
