Guest Blogger: Design for Mankind

As a child, I longed for glasses. Something about those wire-rimmed frames made me feel instantly smart and I constantly snuck into my older sisters’ rooms to sneak a peek of the Collegiate Me.

Alas, I have 20/20 vision, so glasses aren’t (and probably never will be) in the cards. But I can still dream of the wiry frames, yes? In fact, my favorite interior design trend of the moment is inspired by just that: wire.

From trash cans to chairs, storage and lamps, I’m loving the Scandinavian-inspired trend of exposed wire accessories. Care to see a few of my faves?

Beautiful, yes? Luckily, I don’t need glasses to see the loveliness in these wiry pieces!

Ha! I dreamed of glasses, and still do. I think one of these days I'll just get the perfect pair with clear lenses- just because!

These wire items are the delicacy that most rooms need to balance out heavy furniture. My room certainly needs some of those urns, for sure!

That is hysterical. I did the same. My mom actually gave me an old pair of her w/out the lens so I could wear them around, which I did, everywhere. Love the post!

I never understood why anyone else would wish for poor vision and the childhood teasing that often came with glasses. Please, be happy with your 20/20, I would gladly trade you the ability to see naturally for these black, rhinestone adorned, librarian frames.

I saw some wire chairs at Urban Outfitters today. They're on sale from $168 (I believe) to $49! I can't find them online but they were at the Upper West Side location in NYC. They're really really cute, great lines and size, similar to the ones pictured above. If anyone is interested, go snatch them up! Another day in my life that I long for an outdoor space. *sigh*

Thanks so much for taking time to comment! I read every one and reply through my own comments.
