Honeymoon at La Mamounia

Picture 23

You’ve probably heard about the star-studded re-opening of La Mamounia. It’s the legendary Marrakesh hotel that was recently given a makeover by the one and only Jacques Garcia. The travel and design industries have all been abuzz about it but it has special meaning for me because . . .

Picture 26

. . . la Mamounia is where we stayed on our honeymoon.

Now, that was quite a long time ago . . .

Picture 14

and it didn’t look exactly like this . . .

but it was still pretty fabulous.

Picture 27

I remember the gardens being especially beautiful.

But seeing these new photos . . .

makes me think . . .

Picture 19

we may need to pay it another visit.

Maybe we should consider . . .

an anniversary trip? ;)

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for a really exciting giveaway. (It’s the biggest one yet!)

Omg, I just happened to check your blog this morning (I read it everyday) and saw your post about La Mamounia. I'm leaving tonight for Marrakech and that's where I'm staying!

I'm so excited, it looks really amazing.

OK..so now I want to go to Morocco even more badly than I already did…when I was in Gibraltar I could see it and wanted to take the ferry over SO much, but, it couldn't happen as we were not traveling alone…one day. A perfect anniversary trip for you!

    This place looks fantastic!

How did you even hear about it before? I find the toughest part of picking a place to stay when on vacation (or honeymoon for that matter) is finding a locale and accomodations that are at least as beautiful as my own house. That can be a chore sometimes… Would love to hear more about how you found this.

g: I know! Email me about that!

Kelly: What a coincidence! I'm totally jealous. Have a great time and be sure to report back!

Jen: It's definitely gone up but from what I remember, it was always on the pricey side!

Shiny Pebble: It was actually my world traveler husband's idea. He had actually stayed there before we met and suggested it. See why I married him? ;)

Oh, Ally, you how NO idea how much I NEED to go to Morocco! It's been on the top of my list for ages, but my other half is sooo not interested. La Mamounia is just so so fabulous, love all the intricate design and attention to detail.

Isn't the Royal Cafe just fabulous?? You should see all the iconic Danish design they're selling there – eye candy overdose!!

    xoxo

What a place! It's got that colonial classic look with all that fabulous Moorish and typically Moroccan style. I LOVE it and will definitely keep on file.

If Kelly reads this, I'd love to read your review of what the place is like after you have been.

    Thanks for sharing.
