A Mini Before & After of the Kitchen + Winner of India Giveaway

***Note: if you are reading this through Google Reader or some other reader, you may only see a partial post. Something has gone crazy with my feeds. I’m looking into it and hope to have it sorted out soon.***

Since the Before & After post about our kitchen on Pure Style Home last week, there have been a couple more changes.

First the new lights got installed:

Totally digging them. They’re exactly the industrial element I wanted. For those who asked about the source: I found them at an antique mall here in Atlanta called Antiques & Beyond.

Second, my handyman – handymen, actually – were here all week working on various things, including switching out the faucet. We went from this:

to this:

I looked at dozens of faucets in all price ranges but I just couldn’t make up my mind. (Surprise, surprise.) But I really needed to replace the old one because it sprayed water everywhere if you turned it on beyond a trickle. So I decided to get something inexpensive to make do until I find the one.  I chose the Hjuvik from Ikea because it’s similar to the style I want, very reasonable ($249) and comes with a ten-year warranty. (That should give me enough time to find something!)

Now, if I can just find some sconces for the window area, a room in this house may actually be finished! Seeing the new lights, what kind of sconces do you think would look good?

And in other news, it’s time to announce the winners of the India giveaway.

The winner of the pillow cover is visualbenz and the winner of the tote bag is Jenna. Congratulations, girls, I’ll be emailing you later today. And thanks to everyone who entered!

Looks wonderful! I can just see you peering out the window in the morning… must be a lovely view!

    g: Please do!!!

Erika: Just as soon as I tidy up the rest of the place. ;)

Ana: Good to hear you say that. I think most people think this type of sink has to have a traditional faucet. Not us!

HI Ally, thanks for your lovely comment re my photo!! Love those lights and I so admire the way you get things done so quickly. I do like the old faucet but slightly tricky if it sprays everywhere and the new one is great.

PS This is probably a really silly question but I just tried to save the random number generator like you have done above, onto my own blog post and couldn't get it to work – how did you do it, if it isn't too complicated to explain!!

    Cheers, Lorna

These were probably debuted on a previous post but I'm going backwards since google reader is still acting up for me but I LOVE the cabinets. I obviously also love the sink and the lights (because they are perfect and gorgeous) but a bluish cabinet may be my new favorite solution to not hooking myself into a too "of the moment" all white kitchen. I'm totally rambling BUT I've also been searching for sconces for a LONG TIME but my best best so far (in terms of simplicity and cost) has been the Turner Sconce in CB2. If you find something else lovely that I won't have to sell my kidney for, please blog about it!

Thanks for following me! I saw your kitchen on Pure Style Home and absolutely love it! I'm about to have our kitchen cabinets painted too. I'm scared! Especially the "days and days" part you mentioned. ; )
