The Blues

I mentioned yesterday how crazy I am for blue right now. For some reason, I’ve never used it in any of my homes.

I’m not sure why because it’s a color I’ve always liked. I mean, who doesn’t like blue?

I guess there were just other colors I liked more.

But lately, blue is at the top of my love list.

I've always been a bit of a blue girl – especially duck egg and turquoise shades. So easy to live with, and to mix in with other shades so well. Designers Guild have some beautiful wallpapers if you are still on a quest for blue wallpaper Ally.

I love these deep cobalt-y blues you have shown, and I think they are great in a living study room. But anything lighter, like a Delft blue, and I am instantly transported to 1981 and my own bedroom, painted that blue, with lots and lots of Laura Ashley curtains and upholstery (shudder). xoxo

Love blues… You definitely can't go wrong with that color scheme!
Blue is beautiful, no matter what shade. Those glossy blue walls are to die for!

I adore blue too, but have never used it in my home either. I always stumble across the most amazing interiors featuring blue as the main colour, so I should probably experiment! I have just discovered your blog, and have quickly become a fan! Rachel xx
i love a good dose of blue in a space. makes me very happy and pleases b as well so it's a win win situation.

I used blue once, in a bedroom, then promptly read somewhere that blue bedding, etc. is bad Fung Shui in a bedroom…who knows. But I am becoming more drawn to it, particularly the very deep shades of cobalt blue. Janell
Good to have you back and posting!!
A few years ago, when I wanted to do my bedroom in blue, I had the hardest time finding good blues. I did manage to find the perfect shade, but now it seems to be much more available. It is one of those colors that will always come and go in popularity; people can’t seem to stay away from it for too long!

Beautiful shots of these warm and wonderful blues…and I mean warm in a way they are all put together. I too never used blue in my own home before…now my bedroom is a beautiful blue accented with yellow and grey. Love it. perhaps it's a sign of our crazy times and how we all seek peace and quiet and someplace to rejuvenate? Thanks for the reminder!
I am with you, Ally! Blue is definitely in the air. BTW, I sent the antique chest off yesterday for the paint makeover and I will get it back in 2 weeks. Some say that I am crazy, but I think (hope!) I will love it to pieces! Thank you for your support!
I love that salon style living room, and the dark mysterious blue. We are about to paint our bedroom again, and blue (with some gray) is at the top of my list. Thanks for visiting me!
I adore this color! It reminds me of Carrie's apartment from the Sex and the City movie. Gorgeous!

I think blue is an extremely difficult color to pick. I've walked into so many blue rooms I really dislike. But a few years ago I took a chance and painted a room a gray-blue. I really love it.

I agree! I love blue, but never seem to use it. Have determined that I will use it somewhere. These rooms are great inspiration. Maybe some blue wallpaper…

As much as I love purple…blue is THE predominant color of my home. I just slid the second image over to my desk top…I NEED those pillows!

Jane: That sounds all too familiar!
Rachel: Thanks for stopping by!
Down & Out: That is definitely one of the big advantages of blue, isn't it? It works for both sexes.
Irene: I know exactly what you mean – blue but warm!
Splendid: Cannot wait to see that chest!
kristine: I gasped when that scene came up in the movie. It was so stunning!
Yes, I thought of Carrie's apartment on the movie, too! I love that shade of blue.

Blue is such a wonderful color…I prefer it in either very soft tones, or quite rich tones, like that Anthropologie sofa, in the last photo. Combine it with greys and yellow and I'm a happy, happy girl
Nice post, Ally! Love the light one above, as well. I think your choice is perfect.

Sarah
