Guest Blogger: Plush Palate

Bedroom

Hi Everyone! For those of you I haven’t had the privilege of meeting yet, I’m Crystal from Plush Palate and I’m thrilled to be here today! When Ally asked me to come up with a guest post on my recent favorite design trend, that was an easy one. Brass accents!

Remember when nickel and silver were our staples and gilded golds and brass were dubious territory? Well, not anymore! They’re loved for the touch of warmth they provide and great for an updated take on old sophistication.

Whether used on large furniture pieces or smaller accents and vignettes, the result is always chic and fun.

And the best part is brass’ versatility! From romantic and charming to modern and sleek, the look works beautifully both ways!

Now tell me, do you use brass in your home? I’d love to know! And a huge thanks to Ally for letting me share my current favorite decor trend here with you today! xo, Crystal

I love brass! I recently picked up a great bar cart in brass, and I have brass bedside lamps in my master bedroom. I hope brass is here to stay for a long, long time. It seems we are in a time where anything goes, as long as its well made, and gorgeous!

Great post – this is good news for my current house as there are a fair number of brass accents that I have never bothered to change out (I don't really notice hardware or faucets).

I remember looking at Circa lighting's finish options, and being annoyed that aged brass was one of the few options, but maybe they were onto something…

Love your take on this, Crystal. I adore gold – think it goes back to the house I grew up in. I never really abandonned gold accents. Some things you just can't shake! Marija

So great to see you here Crystal, Ally hope you are having a great time!

Lovely post, that gray bedroom is so dreamy! I have to admit I have not always been a brass fan but you may have just converted me!

Hi Crystal, Good to see you and your gorgeous design style here. I haven't used any brass in my home, but you have definately got my attention with your lovely interiors here.

Ally, you picked a great blogger to guest post here. It's been a while since I've visited. Hope you are doing well and having a fun time.

Crystal so fun to see you here. Great post and YES I have been incorporating brass for 3 years now. I tend to watch trends that filter from Europe & I could see that it was o.k. to go back to brass. As a modernist/sleek chrome gal, I have found using brass does give off a warmth, and coziness that I love. Happy weekend to you Crystal & to Ally.x

How lovely to see you here Crystal! Beautiful images (as always). I am warming up towards brass again – and this certainly helps.

If you don't mind I am going to send you a picture of a gold mirror that I am thinking of having painted. Maybe I shouldn't…

I'm having some trouble adjusting to the brass. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm a one-metal girl. If I'm using chrome or stainless (which I usually am), I can't add brass. I wish I could! It's the same way with my own jewelry. White gold & silver, no problem. Silver and yellow gold – no way.

But while I can't manage it in my home, I have no problem appreciating it in other people's rooms. In these places, it looks fantastic!

I love it! Thank you for that! I wanted to introduce you to a favorite blog of mine http://www.designtrackmind.com/. She also has a website at http://www.melissagulley.com/. I think you might like it because you both have the same fabulous taste. She loves turquoise, thinks gray sucks, and has a way of organizing a home beautifully. Check her out! She is based in Newton, Massachusetts but has a lot of clients in Weston, Wellesley and Brookline.

I love brass accents! it brings in a sense of instant elegance to a room. I love the clean lines you've shown in this post as well. The trick would be to not be too ornate. Great post Crystal!

    What a fantastic post, Crystal!

As of late, I cannot get enough of brass — especially done well, like in these photos. I really like the brass with pink and purple, especially. It's such a cheerful combination. Love it!

    xoxo
