Starburst Chandeliers

Hi, everyone! I’m back from my whirlwind trip to Seoul – jetlagged but very inspired and ready to resume decorating the new house.  One thing I really, really need to do is to get some lights. I swear one of these days I’m going to talk about something else. But not today!

It all started with this picture way back when:

From the minute I saw this room, I was mad for that chandelier. (And while we’re at it, the whole room is pretty great.)

I tried to put it out of my mind. But I keep seeing them everywhere.

And I don’t think I’m going to be happy until I get my hands on one (or two). Does anyone know of a good source other than 1stdibs or ebay?

I went on a quest for a copy of a beaded sputnik last summer for a client – totally unsuccessfully. Ended up using the lotus chandelier which wasn't as pricey but still very pretty. Anxious to see if anyone here has any leads! Good luck! Marija

Hi there. I have one in our front sitting room I did a post on it sometime last year. It isn't a sputnik, in the sense of lots of spikes it more gives the impression of a ball. So its more like the last image. It required about 30 globes so I do feel bad in a global warming sense.

I think ours is Italian we bought it from Surround in St Kilda which is of course no use to you as it is half the world away BUT I think it means you should definitely be able to track something down in your neck of the woods. xoxo

It's amazing isn't it, how when you are fixated with something you seem to see them everywhere! I think it's a sign you need to heed Ally, and compromise isn't always the right thing to do. Better to save and wait maybe?

It used to be sold at Moss in NYC and perhaps still is but I didn't see them on the website. I also heard rumors there was a cheaper source somewhere but I'm not sure what it is.

    Good luck on your search.

Ugh, I'm so frustrated. I had an amazing lighting source saved for a post and I can not find it. But if you are willing to forego vintage provenance, then this might be a less expensive option:

By the way, these are gorgeous! I hope you find what you're looking for! Oh, and locally you might try City Issue. They carry lots of vintage lighting.

    Dear Ally,

What a fabulous trip to have gone on even though it was a whirlwind one !!

I am not as keen on the starburst chandelier as you but, that is probably because, being a lot older than you, I saw it as a child, the first time it came round !!!! AND, I'm always a little slow at accepting things. I will probably have them in every room in my house before the year is out !!!! XXXX

Oh I can't tell you how many times this happens to me. I'll see something in a magazine…fall in love with it…and then find myself seeing it everywhere!! I always take it as a sign :) This chandelier is beautiful…love it in the room with the yellow chairs!!

Jane: It seems we have the exact same taste in lighting – first the Murano and now this. You'll have to tell me what else you have in your house. :)

nkp: I've seen that Tonic Home one around but I don't like it nearly as much as the starburst. I'll check out City Issue though – you haven't led me wrong yet! :)

Marsi: I believe they Eames and they're vintage so you probably need to go on ebay . . .

Marybeth and Cristin: Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check them out.

    Splendid Willow: I love Y Lighting but they don't have this . . .

Jacqueline: I guess everything old is new again, eh? ;)

Can anyone tell me where to get the dining chairs in the first photo? The mustard colored and steel clored chairs? Thanks
