Room Love

Picture 265

I’m kind of surprised that I like this room as much as I do. But after I studied it for a while, I realized why:

1. the Missoni bedding. I actually bought the shams (not the duvet but just the shams) a few years ago in Paris. Love the pink pillow too.

2. the gold chairs with the orange upholstery

3. the brass/gold bench at the foot of the bed

4. the linen upholstered bed

5. the wall sconces

6. the hardwood floors and exposed brick and ductwork.

The only thing I would change is the nightstand and also maybe the black frames. The black seem a little dark for the space. What do you think?

I love the feel of this room so much that I’m starting to think I want to use warmer colors as the backdrop for my house instead of the black & gray I had my heart set on. Orange is my favorite color, after all.  Seriously. Could I change my mind any more??

It's a lovely room. Mind you, the warmer colours are all in the furnishings and accessories, so maybe you won't have to go to vast repainting effort. I bet cobwebs gather round that large pipe like nobody's business.

The black frames would balance that wall against the adjoining exposed brick wall. Duct doesn't bother me, but I feel that the feng shui or whatever of having glass and pointed edges (framed pics & mirror) over your head while you sleep is creepy. And the weeny sconces wouldn't be much good for reading. Still, it's very beautiful.

I just found your blog. It's lovely.

I like the black frames, just not so many of them right above the bed. I agree with having all the glass right above my head — it's a little unsettling. But on another wall, no problem.

My design thoughts also blow around like the wind and I think that's part of the fun. But two things I know for sure: my first fave color is turquoise and my second fave is orange. Strange thing is, my bedroom is green and pink. Go figure.

Mel: It's good to know I'm not alone. :)

Design Darling and Mustang Sally: It is all part of the fun. For sure.

A Life More Fabulous: The house is coming along VERY slowly! That's why there are so few pictures so far. Nothing is ready for its close-up! :(

what a gorgeous room! Every single thing you mentioned I love. What is it about exposed brick that just draws us in?! Thanks for following my blog. How sweet of you!

This is one of those rooms that doesn't initially grab me, but does really draw you in as you look at it. I agree that the beside table is pretty bleh and, while I like the black frames against the white walls, I think the black needs to be picked up somewhere else in the room (maybe a black and white striped rug?) to help tie them to the rest of the space.

So funny – I was literally thinking this morning, wow, I haven't heard from Alek in awhile, I wonder how she is and then you commented on today's post! Hope you're settling into the new part of the world well. I love this space too, btw!

on changing your mind… i'm sooo with you there. never before being keen on blue and certainly not with pink, i was recently possessed and painted my red foyer chest a tealy-blue and am adding pink glass knobs from anthropologie. and i love it! pam

I don't mind the black frames, just think the proportions might be off? Or maybe there are too many of the them… I love the room though and am impressed at how such warmth was created in a lofty space like that!
