Moving In!

The move-in has begun and so far, everything is going well. Most of our things seem to have made the cross country trip intact and it’s nice to see my own things again. Well most of it anyway! (“What the hell is that?” has been asked a lot around here!)

So what exactly am I doing while everyone’s doing all the heavy lifting? Aside from directing traffic, sketching floor plans and trying to keep the Frenchies out of trouble, I’ve been very busy with this:

Labeling rooms, drawers, boxes and pretty much everything in sight. This organization nerd is in heaven!

By the way, did you notice how lovely the gray turned out on the kitchen cabinets? I’m so happy I decided to paint them!

Okay, I’ve got to get back to my Sharpies and Post-It’s. We’re still camped out at the temp apartment but I should be blogging from my own new home tomorrow!  I hope you’re all having a good week!

I admire your organization, especially as I am moving too but I am throwing everything in piles all over the place and not making much progress.

And I am dying over those cabinets. They could not have turned out better. Gorgeous!

The gray looks great! Have fun unpacking and organizing — the best part about moving is the opportunity to get rid of the junk and organize the stuff that you actually use/care about. I think it's very refreshing.

(And yeah, I'm kind of a type-A neatnik myself.)

Don't be surprised when your kids start putting post-its on everything–it's either genetic or contagious! LOVE the gray and the pulls! Take time for a bubble bath and don't think it all has to be accomplished in one day!

Thanks everyone for all the sweet comments! I'm stealing very spotty wifi so just a quick reply here . . .

erin: They took all the doors, handles and knobs off then sprayed everything. I wasn't around for most of it but I think that was it. I love my painter. If I had tried this myself, it would have been a total disaster!!!

LOVE the gray cabinets! I would love to see a panned out pic of them. I'd been thinking of painting my cabinets black, but I've been soooo into grays lately that now I might have to rethink this through with seeing your gorgeous cabinets!

    Congratulations on your new home.

When I was a abt ten and we moved house, my mother told me to count the windowns of the new house on the first night in before going to bed for good luck. I am not superstitious, but I have always done it and been happy with my homes.
