i love gray. my parents built a house 2 1/2 years ago and i politely insisted on a soft gray for my room, even though their decorator (who is talented) opposed. i’m older and no longer live with them but my mother says they always get compliments on my room. i know why!

hooray for gray! and paint on going on walls! I actually love the color names. A friend of mine is called “trout” by her dad, which makes me giggle. And the bunny may be the new owl for 2010. I’m so tickled you found a gray called Haystack!

Mise: I think we’re a bit like that here too. I wouldn’t have painted the trim and the doors had they not already been painted. (I just changed the color.) I wish my house did have a name! I love that tradition you have over there but we just have boring house numbers. If you’d like to give mine a name though, I’d be thrilled!

These glimpses of your new house are great – I’m very much a paint fan and am so pleased that your doors and trims are painted. Maybe it’s only in Ireland that we have the ‘it’s wood, and wood is natural so we mustn’t paint it’ ailment so that there is just too much brown. And I’m with you on the influence of names – Trout says dignity and Thoreau to me, for some reason, whereas Bunny is a bit fluffy. Does your house have a name, by the way?

Anyone who can agonize over grey to this level is my kinda’ girl! I am right there with you. Just don’t use “reveal” light bulbs…too blue! Use good old incandescent “yellow cast” light bulbs! I hate the sterile light the new bulbs give.

I love both of those greys. The Bunny Grey looks great with the white of the wide paneling and coffer ceiling. I bet the Trout Grey looks great on cabinets.
