Dark and Busy Wallpaper

[It's finally move-in week - hooray! - so posts may be sporadic this week. Thanks for understanding!]

My plan for the powder room is to go dark and busy. This one is from the inspiration house I posted last month and I love everything about it. I’ve been itching to wallpaper something for a long time and I think the powder room would be the perfect place, especially for a busy pattern like this.

I also really like this pattern from twenty2 that I found through Katy Elliott:

This pattern from Cavern Wallpaper would be stunning:

and I’ve loved this one from Ferm Living forever:

But I’m also really loving lighter floral patterns like these:

I don’t want to get too traditional which I think the floral can be but they are awfully pretty. Any thoughts?

Yep, those florals are very pretty. I do agree. But I do so love those last three dark examples you threw out there. And the Cavern, I think, is particularly intoxicating. As well as being aptly named for the mood you are trying to create, no?

I think that you are very sensible, starting with patterns in a small room, as they can be overwhelming sometimes.

If it were me, I'd use the grey one with with leaves or something similar, as it would flow nicely with all of the grey paint that you are using. I think that it will be very effective and be a small departure from plain walls. XXXX

Wallpaper is making such a comeback…I love it all…you just can't go wrong with any of those…the floral is interesting…I dont typically go that direction bc I'm not too traditional but I think it could be really fabulous mixed with some very modern stuff! Cant wait to see what you pick! Ohhh, Ferm Living has a "peacock" print that I love too!

Oh, I am also dying to put up some wallpaper, somewhere in my home. In your hands any of the examples will work, I love the moodiness of the dark styles, the floral goes in a completely different direction. Whether or not it would get too pretty just depends on what it is surrounded by. Will stayed tuned to see what you do…

I absolutely love the floral patterns, I have to say! But I'm a ridiculously girly girl and dig anything with a traditional flare… especially when it's mixed with modern, contemporary looks. Inspiring!

Love the first image! I tend to like more complex wallpaper designs, over more modern, simple ones, for some reason.

A bit of surprise and craziness is great for a powder room. It's a quick visit, and can easily take a dramatic change from the rest of the house!

Hope you have a great week moving in! Finally!

my fave: thatch from cavern but in canyon (over black). i'm aging and highly busy b/w patterns give me dizzies, even briefly. just a thought… best of luck in choosing!

Powder rooms are one of my favorite rooms to decorate b/c you can let your imagination run wild!

I love your selections, but am most drawn to the florals. I totally understand your fear that the florals will be too traditional, but I think as long as the fixtures and accessories are stream-lined and modern the room will be totally glam, an not stuffy!

Ally I don't think you could ever go wrong. I do love them all. BUT – if I was forced to choose I'd be the rebel & go with the Cavern pattern. Edgy and unpredictable. I adore large patterns in small powder rooms. You are in your element!
