Black, Yellow and a Wallpaper Update

It’s been a while since I’ve done a yellow and black post.

For me it’s a combination that just doesn’t get old.

I’m liking the wallpaper here quite a bit:

Speaking of wallpaper, for those of you following my quest for wallpaper for the powder room, I got a sample of the Thatch pattern from Cavern and unfortunately the white is more of an off-white and since the bathroom has pure white woodwork and crown molding, it’s not going to work. And I realized that unless I cover up the woodwork on the lower half of the walls (which I’m definitely not going to do), I’m not going to get that dark, glamorous vibe I was originally envisioning. And Erin found a whole mess of new-to-me fabulous patterns that I’m now considering. And looking at all of these pictures made me thing that maybe I should throw a little yellow into the mix.

Like so:

Or maybe I should just scrap the black altogether and go with yellow and white?

All that is to say I’m not any closer to making a decision!

I love all those, although the ant photos completely freak me out (imagine having that staring at you whilst eating dinner?) .

I love the second last my only question is whether it would get tired quickly. Maybe the bathroom is the place for that as you don't stare at it all day. Brave experiment – go for it. xoxo

Oh….I love that bright yellow wall. One of the apartments in the complex where I live now has bright yellow walls. Unfortunately, it was snatched up from under my oh-the-things-I-could-do-with-yellow-walls hands and now I have ugly taupey brown ones. I might get a yellow couch, we'll see. But, I do love the yellow walls. Maybe as an accent wall. Or are you planning to do all yellow all over?

Alek, THIS house is your freedom house, remember? Go for the gold! er, I mean yellow and black! Look how great the kitchen turned out, and you were on the fence about that for a while, right? This is no different. You have fantastic instinct, and no matter what colors you go with, it'll be fabulous. Can't wait to see what you decide….I like the pick of the white paper with black large floral in the bathroom with mirror and yellow vases…that could really give a dramatic juxtaposition to the grey in the kitchen and other rooms….esp if more yellow was incorporated, or bigger doses of it.

Yellow is a great color to liven up any room in your home! It's one of our trending colors for 2010… try this shade: Forsythia 12-2 from PPG Pittsburgh Paints!

Linda: Just the ceiling? No, I hadn't considered that. What an intriguing idea. You radical, you!

    Susan: You are so right!

Meggy D: Sorry I don't have any paint suggestions but it looks like Mandy does. :)

LindseyLou: I have no plan as of yet!

    drollgirl: You are so cute!
