The Big News
November 3, 2009 | 54 Comments

Well, we just wouldn’t be us if we didn’t pick up and move just as we’re getting comfortable. So that’s just what we’re doing. We’re moving!
I know! It kind of came out of nowhere for us too. Long story short: the hubs is changing jobs and it requires us to move to . . . Atlanta!
That’s right, I will now be one of them:

[For those of you who don't live in the US and therefore aren't fortunate enough to experience this slice of quality American television, these are the Real Housewives of Atlanta.] I’ll do my best to stay out of hair-pulling, name- calling, screaming matches in public places though.
I’m actually there – or here, rather – right now, looking for a house! I know! As you can imagine, I’m having a ball viewing all these homes. My brain is in overdrive, mentally remodeling, rearranging and envisioning myself in all of these houses!

It’s all very exciting but it’s also going to be hard to say good bye to our beloved house in Seattle. As we get ready to sell it (*sniff, sniff*) I’m over the moon that a sneak peek of it was featured at Design Sponge yesterday. I’m especially thrilled that it’s getting such a nice tribute before we go. Thank you, Design Sponge!
Phew! I think that’s enough excitement for one day! I’ll give you an update on my house search tomorrow.

Congrats! That’s so exciting, yet sad that you are leaving that gorgeous home I just saw on Design Sponge. I literally just posted on the black + white area rug, and how its on my next to purchase for my home list! Good Luck with moving and house hunting, sounds like fun to me. Can’t wait to hear all about it.

Hey that IS big news. Very exciting, I think you must like moving more than me – those boxes make me feel ill. So you can become a southern gal, right? Lots of iced tea, and houses with big verandahs and shady trees. !! good luck with house hunting. xoxo

I have family in Atlanta….here are some tips for the area.
Innman Park is full of bungalows that are all being restored right now…fab place to live…but anything too close to little 5 points might not resell so well…it is a bit more dangerous.
If you move up on the northern side (my family is in Roswell) then there are two great little places…by the same owner I believe: Swallow at the Hollow for great bbq and Green’s on Green St with fried chicken and huge pies.
The first chance you have to leave the city drive up to the north georgia mountains (ok hills)….there are some great little vineyards starting up there…most with a downhome feel….but Montaluce feels like you are in Italian heaven.
Get the year pass to the aquarium and you can go any old time you want…I think it is very relaxing…unless there happen to be 100s of elementary children running around.
hope you love your new place!

Huge news! In fact, I’m really thrilled about it because this means I might actually get to meet you ‘in person’ one day! Born and raised in Metro Atlanta and all my family is still there, so we visit quite often! Used to live across the street from Piedmont Park in Midtown – my favorite little loft space yet!
