House Hunting, The Highlights

I have been completely blown away by all the gorgeous houses I’ve seen this week. I had no idea what Atlanta had in store! Here are a few highlights from my house hunt that just made me die. (They’re all from different houses.)

First this kitchen:

1

Seriously, have you ever seen such a beautiful island?

Then there’s this bathroom:

2

The tub, the Carrera marble, the gray cabinets, the beamed ceiling!

And last but not least, get a load of this garden:

3

This is someone’s backyard! In the city!

4

With its own creek! Could you just die?? Our realtor practically had to drag me away. I was ready to move in right then and there.

Unfortunately, none of these houses were right for us for various reasons. But we did find two other possibilities and we’ve made an offer on one! So now we wait.

Having accomplished my goal of finding a house (fingers crossed), I’m headed back to Seattle today where I’ll go into full moving mode! As some of you know, I love to move so I’m actually looking forward to the chaos that’s about to ensue. (I’m a freak, I know.)

Have a great weekend all and thanks so much for joining me this week! It’s been crazy, right? I haven’t had time to comment much on your blogs lately but I have been popping in on them so know that I’m there. See you Monday!

I feel as if I am on HGTV House Hunters with you! Good luck on the house–hope it all goes smoothly. One year I packed Thanksgiving china as I washed each one by hand–wash, wrap, pack :) We moved on New Year's Eve–real chaos!

I felt the same way when looking @ houses here in Texas coming from Seattle. You of course have lived in some remarkable, envious places. The architecture in the south was a terrific surprise for us homeowners. The spaces you posted were really terrific – I was gobsmacked!

I hope you buy packing tape & bubble wrap in bulk!? Thanks for taking us along on your house hunt Alek. xx

OMG!!! I've been away from blogland this week… You're moving to Atlanta!!! Yay, we'll be a little closer! (And I grew up moving around, so I understand the feeling of elation that comes with newness…and the ability to purge and start over – I love it, too.)

How very fun!!! Enjoy it all. And good luck with the offer, dear!

Can't believe you are moving to Hotlanta!!! Are you looking on Peach Avenue, Peach Circle, Peach Road, Peach Street, Peach Drive, Peach Lane or Peach Blvd.? :D

The houses that you are finding are stunning and it indeed does feel a little like House Hunting with you! Good luck and I hope your offer gets accepted!

Jenny: One of these houses was in Buckhead, one was in Ansley Park and I can't remember where the other one was. We're looking all over.

Susan: I feel like I'm on an episode of HH too! (I love that show.)

Brandie: Ha! I was joking about that when we got here and the really funny thing is that we did end up seeing on some houses on streets that had Peachtree in the name! I'm never going to learn my way around with all the streets having the same name! :)

I love it that you are such a chameleon! That you could go from modern and sleek in Seattle to a Southern charmer with equal excitement. These are all beautiful homes and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your offer is accepted tout de suite!

That's quick work, and I hope you get the house you want! Re the blog title, Eclectic Rover? Interiors on Tour? Eames on Wheels? Sorry, I'm getting carried away there. And I'm sending Husband to check out the W Hotel in Atlanta next week on your recommendation.

I want that island. I don't care that it's bigger than my entire kitchen. I just want it!

    Such beautiful options!

I hope the one you made the offer on goes through smoothly for you!

That bathroom is to die for. As is that backyard (Dave would be so jealous — they'd love to have a large yard and his own creek!). I adore real estate stalking so please give us the grand tour of whichever house you did end up choosing!

Best of luck and have a great and productive weekend!

I wanted to appologize for not visiting your blog for a really long time but I was kind lost in time and space. I haven't even posted on regular bases! Hope you're enjoying your Sunday!

Looking forward to seeing pics of your new house.

Know what you mean -we used to move house about every 2 years, just get it renovated and decorated, enjoy it for 3 months and then get itchy feet and see another project (but they were all in the same town!). Never had a chance for clutter to build up :)

Moving?! Well, that *is* exciting :) I haven't visited your blog for a long while, too long. I had a lot of fun reading through some recent posts, though, and catching up a bit. Atlanta, huh? I love Atlanta :) Can't wait to see your new home!

We're still pluggin' away at the old split level. Somedays it seems like things are moving so slowly I'll be staring at honey oak panelling and burgundy bricks until I'm sipping Metamucil. But, really, we are making progress. It's good for me to read through my own blog! :)

Hope the move goes well for you! And, yes, you are totally nuts to love it.
