Guest Blogger: Coco + Kelley

I’m so thrilled to be over here at Right Bank, guesting for the fabulous Alek! I absolutely fell in love with her blog this year, and was so happy to have her guest over at my blog – coco+kelley – in August while I took some time off to open my own interior + event design company in Seattle. I’m so very excited to see what decor adventures await her in Atlanta!

Alek and I seem to have similar obsessions from time to time, especially when it comes to color… or lack thereof! While we both love our fresh black and white interiors, I’ve recently been drawn to a fabulous black alternative… blue!

I’m not talkin’ about that bright bold blue we’ve seen so much of strutting down the runway these past few years. I’m talking blue so dark that (indeed) it’s almost black. Saturated navy, rich sapphire and midnight teal…

The obsession began with the doors on the since-been-redesigned office of Nate Berkus. A high gloss finish just makes them even more fantastic!

I love the intense saturation and richness this color brings to any space – especially the way it contrasts with a lighter warm wood. Of course, if you’ve gone the grey route like many of us recently have, this color adds fantastic depth too.

And, if you’re really brave, you’ll take a cue from this room designed by Todd Romano and go all out in creating a glamorous little reading cave! Do you dare?

Dare? Do I ever! That last room is such a favorite, I used it for Alek's now infamous, "What's Your Style in One Picture" challenge. That's the "me" room. You're right, that color is amazing, saturated, with an almost indescribable appeal. And you totally hit me

over the head with that gorgeous inky tile wall–wow!

    Beautiful Post!

Weeehooooo!! Love the post and love the color! I have a large monochromatic painting with different layers of deep royal blue and a classic bench in front of my bed in the same color and they still work – 15 years later! (Yikes! That is an eternity in design. But I still wouldn't change a thing!)

The rest of my bedroom is crisp white with accents of deep purple, but it changes from time to time.

Thank you for sharing these lovely images!

I dare, I dare; Cassandra I have wanted to paint our office/den walls a deep navy for months now & I am hesitant to do it since we may put our house on the market in the near future. I'm afraid that Joe Public does not think outside the box like I do when it comes to design. The den has all that gorgeous woodwork & built-ins common in some of these older Houston homes. What to do? Great post & fabulous photos. I am starstruck over the navy subway tiles. I took a peek today of your webpage & it's terrific. Seattle is very blessed to have you. Fab guest post me dear x
