Traveling Thursday: The Olde Bell and The Crown
October 15, 2009 | 28 comments

It’s a double feature on today’s Traveling Thursday.
Sometimes, even we city girls crave a little country. More specifically, English country. Like right now, I wouldn’t mind a little fall getaway to either The Olde Bell or the The Crown- or both! They are described as “modern day coaching inns” and are the creation of designer Ilse Crawford. As if I didn’t worship her enough!
First up, the Olde Bell:

I want this tub for my house. Heck, I want the whole bathroom for my house.

Don’t you just want to sit at this table and warm up with a cuppa and listen to the fire crackle?

Then a glass of champagne before dinner?

This is the Crown:

Loving the color palette here:

What a cheerful spot for breakfast:

I love the windows!
And it doesn’t get much cozier than this:

Don’t they just look like rural bliss? Did you notice the strategically placed tea pot in just about every photo? Just one of the many reasons I love the British!
Happy Traveling Thursday and bon voyage!

When I lived in the UK, places like these were my regular surroundings as I sipped hot brandies. Lovely and cosy. I can well believe that they may own more than one teapot, but I bet that’s the same red Roberts radio they moved from the bathroom to the bedroom for the shoot…

They look wonderful – and so clean! We went to Blenheim Palace again yesterday and the village of Woodstock is full of places like those… very posh indeed!

If I had to do ‘rural’ this would definitely be the way to go…but of course, I would need a lot more champagne!

Well, you’re in my neck of the woods now and thanks for loving me (as in the British !!!!) Of course, there is a pub, just like the ones shown, in most cities, towns and villages throughout Britain but, unforunately, many are closing down, due to the recession ec. Not all of them are as beautiful as these two that you have shown, Alek. Thanks for showing a litle bit of Britain. XXXX

OH my, this is perfect. One of my favorite memories of my time spent in England was driving around the tree-covered lanes until we found a hidden pub in the middle of nowhere. Really, it was amazing inside. The Crown looks likes a place I would have loved..
