Traveling Thursday: 236 Hurumzi, Zanzibar
I have wanted to go to Zanzibar for a very, very long time. I don’t normally like to throw the word “exotic” around but I’m making an exception here because it’s just so fitting. The history, architecture, mix of cultures, . . . it’s everything that gets me all hot and bothered.
And I’ve had my eye on 236 Hurumzi for just as long. In that time, it’s undergone a name change and some expansion but as far as I can tell, it still oozes romance.
I love a good rooftop lounge and 236 Hurumzi’s has got to be one of the world’s best. Look at the views over the town and the Indian Ocean beyond!
All of their rooms are different and decorated with antiques in wonderful jewel tones.
It’s kind of funky, quirky and romantic all at the same time. Just what I want in a place like Zanzibar!

I don't think you'd get to see much of Zanzibar if you stayed in this gorgeous place – you'd never want to leave even for wonderful sightseeing! Leigh

Wow. This hotel is gorgeously decorated and just feels so authentic. And even the name "Zanzibar" sounds exotic so I think it's perfectly appropriate to describe it as such.
I just like saying the name Zanzibar- its fun to say and very exotic sounding!

Wow! I am ready to book my flight, how incredible. I think that wonderful rooftop area with the big, fluffly and brightly colored pillows is my favorite!
Took the kids to the airport yesterday to watch the airplanes land and take off, and I had the most overwhelming urge to fly off somewhere grand. And now your Traveling Thursday… I *need* to get away.

OOoh, wow. I love your travelling thursdays esp as I can only dream about exotic holidays for the next 15 years or so until the kids grow up!
I think exotic definitely applies! I've always wanted to go and explore the old harem ruins or wander through all the clove trees…

Almost made it to Tanzania and of course Zanzibar last Christmas…..it unfortunately did not happen…just seeing these amazingly inviting photos, i just need to find a way to get there…..Meanwhile, I will have dreams of Zanzibar
