I have no idea why I have couches on the brain lately. I just do.

I have a couple of other things to share with you today. First, today is my debut at Apartment Therapy!  My first post will be up later this morning – so that’s afternoon, evening or early tomorrow for most of you – and you can look for me there regularly Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Second, I am sharing my messy desk as part of Ill Seen, Ill Said‘s wonderful series called “Where We Blog From.” Hope to see you at either or both places today. Thanks!

I always think of black sofas as the big, hideous black leather monstrosities of my misspent student days…but perhaps I need to expand my horizions.

Can't wait to catch your debut!

Thanks, everyone! I hope I don't disappoint! My AT posts will be different from this blog so it'll be interesting to see what you think.

le banc moussu: It does seem like I'm all over the place lately! Hope you don't get sick of me. :)

Averill: That was what I used to think. (Click on the link to my first post about black couches.)

a black sofa goes always well in any space. it's the centre piece in a living room (or bedroom) and from there we can always spread colour everywhere. i call it the Home Little Black Dress.

Congrats on your new project – AT. I'll definitely will keep an eye on it :)

What do I love about these? They are not all big, clumsy leather couches! Yay! The smaller settee with rivets is particularly charming. I saw black horsehair covered couches in a plantation home recently, and they were marvelous (the way horsehair fabric reflects light is very interesting).

CONGRATS on the Apartment Therapy gig! You are perfect for it. I'll be reading AT more knowing you're there!!

I like the sofa in the first image. The blend of the soft feminine lines of the sofa and the dark masculine fabric is marvelous.

I have been waiting and waiting for your AT debut sadly your post is not up yet. I won't go to bed until I read it though!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Congrats on the AT gig! I'm looking forward to reading even more of your writing. In fact, I'm going to take a peek at AT:SF right now …

Black couches are great — they can look masculine, done in a large scale with deep wood tones in a study, or quite feminine, done in a rich velvet, just as you have shown. Very dramatic!

I'm off to see your first post :)

I jet setted over here by way of Mrs.Limestone.

Funny, I have been spotting lots of black couches too-

I think they look so hip now. Did you see the one on AphroChic shop?

Wow – just came by via Mrs Limestones. Reading back, I'm sad to hear your Murano met an untimely end – it is gorgeous! Looking forward to flicking through more of your archives.
