A Window Seat Of My Own
You know how I love window seats? Well, this weekend I finally did something about it.
I got this trunk a while back on sale at Nordstrom. (Their home department in the Seattle store is tiny but always has great stuff! I never leave without buying something.)  This past weekend I wedged it into a nook in the bedroom and voilà , a window seat of my own:

In the trunk, I keep all the pillows that are not currently being used. It’s stuffed so full, the lid barely wants to stay down(!)

I never hung out in this spot before but now I just love it. It’s my new place to write in my journal or just veg out and gaze out at the trees which I managed to do a little of this weekend. How was your weekend?

great idea! I wish I had a window in my house that I could do that to! Hope your having a great day! = )
A brilliant use of a previously overlooked space – very clever Alek. xx

I too love window seats and find they are a great place to sit and make a phone call, especially to your mother so she can have your undivided attention.

what a perfect fit? did you have your measuring tape with you or was your eagle eye enough?
i have to stop amassing cushions …. ..'what does a person have to do to sit down here"? and my son said "stop making cushions" it seems we've more cushions than couch.

You and I obviously need to do a pillow swap! I am so overstuffed it's ridiculous, and I still want MORE.

I love window seats. The nature of our house (i.e. small, Victorian and small) doesn't allow for them, but I sit at my dining table in our front window in the morning as I write on Passementerie (and read From the Right Bank!) and catch my neighbours nonchalantly glancing in our window as they pass.. I don't have curtains in any of my windows, so as to allow the full light to come in.

very nice! i especially like that (sparkly?) toss pillow.

Thanks, everyone!
Jennifer: It would make a good spot for phone calls. My mom would especially like it if I weren't distracted during our calls.
mise: We have the same blinds there as in the rest of the house but maybe I should think about sprucing it up?
elaine: It was pure dumb luck! Yes, the pillow situation in our house is completely out of control too.
erin: It's an illness. I can't stop either.
Passmenterie: I would be one of those neighbors – I can't help looking into windows!
Down and Out: It IS! It's sequins and I'm totally in love with it.
I love it! It's perfect
and the pillows are lovely
I'm obsessed with pillows…
Eeeeeeek! It's zebra! I love it. What a great job.
Great job Alek! Love the sparkly pillow too. Plus it looks like it was a beautiful sunny day in Seattle!

I love window seats, too, and in fact a big reason I picked the floor plan I did for the new house was that it had several (one in the master and one in an upstairs' bedroom). Of course, I still haven't gotten around to DOING anything with them yet….

Mmmm – one can enjoy many a good book by a window seat..:-) I especially enjoy reading Pooh & Eeyore with my little ones..:) Perhaps in the future I can cover it with something more sophisticated and read books with less pictures..

You clever girl Alek – I love this! However in my case the ADHD gene would kick in & there would be little reading or journalling, but lots of gazing out the window & being nosey!
