It’s Black And White
It seems like I fall in love with a new favorite color combination every week and having no loyalty whatsoever, I’ll quickly abandon it when a new and prettier one catches my eye. But the one I will always stay true to is black and white.
Black and white have always been my favorite colors to wear but until recently, I thought black was to severe for the home. Not anymore. What about you?

Yes as I have mentioned being a Melburnian my clothes are a uniform in black (maybe with some white occassionally in summer). I think it B&W can work for interiors but you have to be very careful…. and temper with other neutrals otherwise it looks like a restaurant. Or film set. …

For me this is something to admire in other people's houses – my children won't let me maintain the crisp clear look that is so essential for effective monochrome.

i love black..
my sitting room has a black feature wall, my hall is a really dark grey and white combo with flashs of red ..one of my sons walls is black but he thinks its a blackboard! …

It's timeless, classic in my opinion.

I love black and white in theory, and was seduced into buying some fabulous – FABULOUS – geometric black and white embroidered cushions and an ottoman in marrakech, but these have all remained unstuffed and in my (bursting-at-the-seams) linen cupboard…

I wear black all the time with a little bit of white or grey thrown in, but in the home I have a bit of trouble with black. White is beautiful but when they are put together I'm not sure….not that it's awful, or anything..just not sure……
I think that, here in the U.K. it has a bit of a 'footballers wives' look which doesn't go down well here, a bit naff…Sorry…please still come and visit me !!!!!! hehe XXXX

I've to agree with you. My wardrobe is very much B&W but home is truly colourful… but lately I want to design a house totally monochrome… Great post.

oh so pretty, all of those chandeliers have me drooling. black chandeliers are really quite dramatic and romantic aren't they? i never really thought of seriously wanting one, but those have me thinking differently

I'm not a fan of black for upholstery due to my shedding chihuahuas who are both white but anywhere else is fantastic – especially those chandeliers!

I love these photos you picked and I like seeing black in other people's homes, but for some reason I never want the color in my space. It doesn't feel me. I think I'm more of a chocolate brown/midnight blue girl when it comes to dark colors.
i think it is really clean and classic… with a modern feeling.. i have black and white towels at the store… i kept thinking… will people use the black and white towels ?? after seeing this.. i like them!

Black and white never gets old. It's timeless! I love black in a home, but my huge white hairy beast-of-a-dog keeps me away from darker colors.

Alek this is just a fabulous post! I loved every image, thank you for such superb styling. I love black too, but am a bit of a coward using it in interiors. However I'm becoming braver, starting with a wall of B&W pics framed in bold, black frames. One small step for mankind, one huge step for Miss Millie!
