Do You Twitter?

Hi, everyone. It’s a holiday here in the US so I’m taking the day off but just popping in for a quick post.

I’ve been twittering for a while now and am curious as to your feelings about it. Sometimes I love it and other times, I find that I can’t keep up and wonder what’s the point. (And what’s up with all the porn people who follow everybody?)

Do you twitter? And if so, what do you primarily use it for? How often do you tweet? If you’re on Twitter and I haven’t found you yet, let me know. I’m here.

I’m off to shop the Labor Day sales, along with the rest of the country.  I’ll be back tomorrow with a real post!

Hi Alek, No I don't Twitter. I don't have time – blogging, Facebook, e-zines, work and family consume most of it. I do love a sale though and hope you manage to grab a bargain or two. Enjoy your day off.

Hi Alek I am with Jennifer on this, I don't have time to do that and all the other stuff. Otherwise my fingers really would develop little alien square pads on them. Plus I am quite longwinded and I can't see how you can ever fit anything really interesting into 132 characters (or whatever the limit) is. See I have probably already exceeded it. Now might also be the time to make a scathing comment about the youth of today and how they have such short attention spans so Twitter suits them but actually I think it is not confined to the young!!!

Well I'm a non-twitterer. I have enough trouble keeping up with my text messages, blog and emails. I just don't have the time or inclination to add another form of communication to my life. But each to their own I say and if you love something, go for it! Lee

I'm on it, but I'm on the fence too. Somedays I get really into it, but those days are few and far between. Honestly I'm just obsessed with the Boston Celtics so I like to know what's going on with them at all times…the local sports network keeps me posted via Twitter. Have fun on your shopping adventure!

I do not Twitter as I don't see the point. ( SORRY )…..I don't know why anyone would want to read a couple of sentences about me making the beds or preparing the dinner or going out to lunch. I think that when celebrities do it they like to count up how many followers they've got and get a kick out of it.BUT….each to their own…I tear my hair out, trying to post every few days so I think that they might have to put me away if I started twittering (is that the correct grammar ?)Oh dear…I feel awful now as you twitter…I didn't mean that you were like a celebrity…oh no, I'm digging a very big hole for myself….please come over to my blog and continue to comment….I do LOVE your blog ….XXXX

i do have a twitter but i can't say as i see the point really. i have tried it for months now and my understanding of what all the fuss is about is still lacking. although it's fun to follow someone like martha stewart to see what she is doing right there in that moment.

it usually involves work of some kind or a hike with friends.

Hey, there I am! I'm loving Twitter at the moment for these reasons:

    1. I can stay connected with friends without having to join Facebook.

    2. Tweets allow me to share something too brief to blog about.

    3. Some of the celebrities are hilarious.

    4. It's another way to drive traffic to my blogs.

    5. Stores announce great discounts and sales.

I'm with you on the porn Tweets. Gross and should be monitored by Twitter.

I don't understand following someone you do not know. How do some of these people even find me?

    P.S. I'm glad you're on.

I do have twitter although I'm not sure I always see the point. I think it's really helpful for people with their own business as it allows them to connect with customers. It's also nice as a blogger to "meet" other bloggers and be casual rather than through the comments section which can be more one-directional rather than a conversation. But it's hard to keep up with that, and generally it's the first thing that gets dropped to the waist side when I'm busy for trying to disconnect from the world of the "connected."

I used to pride myself on being able to hold out on the Twitter craze, but alas I broke down a couple months ago and now I'm hooked! There are some truly funny people out in the Twittersphere that I love following and I agree with Raina that it helps blog traffic!

I try to do my part in battling the porn followers by blocking them… I'd rather have some standards over boosting numbers!

I'll go follow you now :)

    Ah Alek!

I've missed you. With the past two weeks being a bit crazy in my life I haven't had all the time I wanted to catch up on my favorites! So wishing you a happy labor day! We are just finishing up some home projects.

I'm on twitter. I liked it, but like Jenny I don't totally get it. If I had internet access on my cell I'm sure I would use it more, but for the time being it's been fun.

I twitter and I like it. I make sure I only follow people with my interests. And I block anyone who tweets porn. It's driven people to my blog and I like the funny tweets. I just joined HootSuite { FREE! } and it makes monitoring it tons easier.

  12. Down and Out Chic

as you know, i'm new to twittering and i still don't really get it. i've been using it to talk about new listings in the shop but then i feel like i'm talking all about me. which is lame.

ah, i don't know if i'm going to keep doing it or not.

I really do LOVE Twitter. I'm a tweeter from way back. Why? Well it gives me the opp to communicate in short bursts (socially only) and it also allows me the opportunity to speak my mind whenever I want. I did have difficulty getting into it at first – took 3 tries (why I kept trying is beyond me…) Now I talk to dozens of people every day – easily.

I don't mind having to twitter to share some blog posts and such… I actually only signed up to keep in touch with other bloggers, fun to see what they "tweet"… but it's seriously hard to keep up… fun for when i'm bored or waiting in line somewhere though! And yes, WHAT is up with the porn followers… I think I just might block them, lol.
