Introducing Orange Crush!

domino

One of the first bloggers I “met” when I began blogging was Christina, whom I’m sure you all know from her fabulous blog Down and Out Chic. We started blogging around the same time and it was clear from the start that we had a lot of things in common.

One thing we share is a love of all things orange. When we discovered this, we decided we had to spread the love. It’s one of those colors that I think you either love or hate and we’re determined to make converts out of those in the latter camp(!) So once a month, we’ll be bringing you “Orange Crush” – lots of orangey goodness in the form of interiors, fashion, accessories and more.

To start things off, I want to show you some of my favorite orange seating starting with one in my own house. I made a huge commitment to orange when I bought my Ligne Roset “Pop” chair by Christian Werner several years ago. We had just moved to Paris and we were shopping for things for our new apartment when I spotted the Pop chair. It was a red model and I fell instantly in love. I waited a few months to make sure that this was true love (and not a fleeting one like so many of my loves) and then I took the plunge and ordered it in orange. The chair has since moved with us to Seattle and I’m happy to say I still love it to this day.

And what about all of these great orange seats:

What do you think? Have I won anyone over yet? If not, I’ll try again next month! Be sure to go and visit Christina today where she’ll show some stylish ways to inject orange into your wardrobe. We hope you enjoy our little collaboration!

Your orange chair is lovely, and beautifully set off by the striped rug. You've made me realise I have no significant orange in my house (I think I always write it off as too potentially garish, but I know that's a bit too broad a dismissal) – this may change after a few Orange Crush posts.

Hmmm, I think you are starting to win me over on orange afterall. It's a color I don't naturally gravitate towards, but thank you for taking me out of my comfort zone and planting a new seed in my head!

I love orange, and I envy your Werner chair! Orange seems most effective when it is the only real "color" in the room, keeping everything else neutral. I love the rooms you have picked!

We have used a paint color called "Mexican Chili" in several dining rooms that we have designed. It works really well in older homes with wood floors, on plaster walls, paired with gloss white trim (the wider the trim the better). We staged the rooms with an Eames birch dining table and LCM chairs in black stain, a set of 5 Eames airport chairs, a clean-lined bar, and modern art.

I'm glad that some of you are coming around already! And if you're already an orange fan – hooray!

Raina: Now it all makes perfect sense! :D

bananas: The photo was taken during the heat wave last week and that's pretty much what the dogs looked like all week!

hmmmm – the orange chairs look great in the photos you chose, but still don't think I could make that type of leap…I'm more of a cool color type…but I look forward to you trying again next month!!!

I love the first picture, the other colours used, set off the orange beautifully, check out the light …wow!

You don't have to twist my wrist…the walls in my keeping room are painted orange, the peaked ceiling in my breakfast nook-orange, back of kids' bookshelf-orange, orange coffee table, two yummy boucle tweed (orange) upholstered chairs and an ottoman, an acrylic and very orange light fixture in the playroom, oh and least I forget, a rather large, orange sliding barn door in the basement living room. I think that's about it! Does that qualify me for your "Orange Crush" club? ;0)

I love this idea! A lot.

…btw, these are not all in the same space, scattered here and there around my house.

Oh and Raina, you already knew this, but I just love ya…Genius(!), who knew!

Love that the two of your ladies are doing this! It's perfection. You know I'm a huge fan of Orange.

It is my sister's favorite color and when she went abroad to study for a year I bought some orange accessories to make me feel close to her and ended up getting a new favorite color myself!
